Free X-MEN, SPIDER-MAN, and STAR WARS Trade paperbacks!
Howdy!
This has certainly been a very pleasant week here at
Mile High Comics
in terms of
trade paperbacks and hardbacks.
For starters, our giveaway of
FATHOM and
GROO
trade paperbacks that I began on Wednesday has been incredibly popular. I am assuming that the fact that I offered one book free for every $20 order was at least in part responsible for that high rate of response, as $20 a is very reasonable threshold, low enough for just about everyone to reach. That low cost of participation, combined with all of the wonderful
comics
that we have been adding into our
New-In-Stock and
$50+ New-In-Stock
listings since Monday, has ended up making this give away of free trade paperbacks a genuine success. Many thanks to those of you who have already participated in this fun give away program!
Since including free trade paperbacks in smaller orders seems to be so popular, I have decided to expand this program a little more. Out of pure happenstance, we sometimes receive far more copies of an individual book title in our bulk purchases than we can sell over a period of years, or sometimes even decades. With Fox St. now near complete capacity, and thousands of additional books arriving each week from Diamond Distributing in anticipation of our upcoming Christmas sales, we really need to clear some room. That being the case, I have decided that I will offer you your choice of any of the following book titles absolutely for free, simply for placing a minimum $20 with us between now and next Monday. In slight change from my previous criteria, however, you can now earn a free trade paperback for every $20 increment in your order, with no limit.
My reasoning in making this change is that some of you may be looking for inexpensive Christmas presents, and would thus like to have multiple copies on some of these titles. We do not have huge quantities in stock on each individual book, but I do think that we will have more than enough to give away through this weekend. All you need to do to receive your free trade paperback(s) is to place your order with us as you normally would, and then give us your book selection for each $20 increment of your order in the "notes" section of our order form. We'll then include your books, absolutely for free! Here are the seven book titles that are available as of right now: (click on the images below for larger view)

As an aside, we do still have copies of the
1976 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VERSUS THE PRODIGY
give away comic available, also for a $20 order, or order increment. I had honestly thought that we were near to selling out on Wednesday, but then Will Moulton (who had been bagging and grading them for me) shocked me by telling me that we still had over 100 copies left.
It seems that these little give away comics are so thin that my estimates of how many were left in the stack were far too low. The stack that I thought contained about 100 copies actually turned out to have nearly triple that number! In any event, if you would like a copy of this rare 1976 Andru and Esposito Spider-Man story (which I do not believe has ever been reprinted) you have one more chance. As of Monday, I will stash any remaining copies in our vault...

Another couple of points for today also involve
trade paperbacks and hardbacks.
First, those of you who have been frustrated when seeking long out-of-print trade paperbacks and hardbacks really do need to look (right now!) at our
Trade Paperbacks and Hardbacks New-In-Stock
listing. We purchased a single library yesterday containing over 400 out-of-print Marvel and DC books ranging all the way back to 1995, as well as a large number of Dark Horse, Image, and Independent titles.
This is the largest single private library of scarce trade paperbacks and hardbacks that we have been able to buy during all of 2009, so the number of great book titles that we have in stock for you today is our very best of the year. I will caution you, however, that 1) almost all of these books were single copies, and 2) we were not able to get this huge private library all graded and entered yesterday, so a second grouping of these books will appear in tomorrow (Saturday's)
New-In-Stock
when it posts to our website at about 11 AM, Mountain Time. Place your order for these books quickly, or I guarantee you that many of them will be gone by early next week. 'Nuff said.
My final item for today is a quick mention that we placed a huge order for DC Archive and Showcase editions yesterday. DC suddenly offered us a special discount on these two highly popular lines of their books, so we quickly took advantage of this opportunity to stock up on every title offered. With any luck, we'll have them in stock for you before the Thanksgiving holiday, which will provide you with plenty of time to pick up copies either for yourself, or to give as gifts. And, as we always try to do, we will be passing the savings that we received from DC on these two book lines (Archives and Showcase) right on to you.
That's it for today. The weather is cold and cloudy this morning, but that just will make my sorting of even more comics in our main warehouse all the more fun. We have been finding immense numbers of great comics this week, so I highly encourage you to check out our
New-In-Stock and
$50+ New-In-Stock
listings. Just yesterday, for example, we added a run of
DAREDEVIL (1964)
#5 - #177! I would run the listing of our premium comics from this week with this newsletter, but it is just too long! Follow this link to
$50+ New-In-Stock,
and you'll see what I mean!
Happy Collecting!
