One Million Comics One Dollar Each

Howdy!

As much as I can, I try each morning to scan all of the orders that we are receiving via our website. My primary goals are to help our inventory team to identify purchasing trends, and to also help to identify and correct mistakes in our online listings. That having been said, I thought that you might find it interesting that I have observed that the actual size of the average comics order we are receiving has tripled (!) over just this past month. We used to see orders for 15-20 comics, whereas now the average is closer to 50-60. That is a remarkable change in just 30 days time...

Chuck Scanning through Orders

To explain why this is happening, about one month ago I requested some very substantial changes in the way that we price our back issue comics and magazines on our website. Simply put, I had our staff slash the base prices on all of our comics in the grades of Fair, Good, Very Good, and Fine. Simultaneously, I increased our codeword discounting program to a full 60% off. Finally, I had the parameters of our our automated pricing program changed, in order to greatly increase the discounting on comics where we had more than five copies in stock in any given grade.

The combined net effect of these three changes has been the stunning increase in order size that I mentioned earlier. We are now shipping triple the number of comics per order, oftentimes at no additional cost. Consider for a moment that any comic or magazine listed on our website for less than $2.50 actually costs you less than $1 when our current 60% Off HALLOWEEN codeword is utilized. With over one million of our comics now priced at less than $2.50, our website offers the most comics in the 40 cent - 99 cent ranges of any comics website in the world. In a nutshell, that's why our average order size has exploded over the past 30 days.

Will - Golden and Silver Age Comics

Before I leave the subject of pricing, I did also want to mention that Will Moulton also greatly increased our discounting on all of our Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age comics in those same lower grades. A great many of our hardcore collectors have taken note of these changes, and have been using the 60% off HALLOWEEN codeword to scoop up large quantities of our Pre-1982 comics. At 60% off, our sales of Marvel and DC Silver Age comics are also going nuts...

My only other topic for today's a quick mention that we do still have all of this year's individual Halloween Comicfest variant editions available as free bonus books, as well as a few full sets. At our present pace of allocation, however, our remaining supplies on most issues will not last the entire weekend. You can receive one free Halloween Comicfest edition for each $10 increment of your order with us, six for a $50 increment, or all 22 variants as a free bonus for a minimum $150 order. Just request your free Halloween Comicfest selections in the "notes" area of our online order form.

Here is a listing of the 22 different Halloween ComicFest editions for 2013. Cover scans and links to the same are at the end of this newsletter.
