New Codeword - 7 New Marvel #1 Issues - STAR WARS #10
Howdy!
After twelve weeks of the lowest new comics production schedule of the past 40 years,
Marvel Comics is finally relaunching all of their core superhero titles. Beginning
next week, we will see the first seven of approximately 50 new Marvel #1 issues,
with
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1
and
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1
leading the way.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2015)#1
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN (2015)#1
I am placing special emphasis on this long-awaited Marvel relaunch in today's
newsletter because I want to be certain that you are aware that some of the #1
issues from this major relaunch are probably going to end up being in extremely
short supply. Simply put, all comics retailers have been forced to live with
diminished new comics revenues during the past three months, directly due to
Marvel's decision to suspend publication on most of their hero titles while
the major continuity changes revealed in
SECRET WARS (2015)
slowly unfolded.
To give you a sense of what I mean, our Marvel Comics revenues here at Mile
High Comics were decreased by $80,000 - $100,000 directly due to Marvel's
publishing hiatus. Suffice it to say, that really stung.
The previous having been said, if you do not yet have these new Marvel #1 issues on
order, I urge you to do so right away. We have plenty of copies on order for all of
the members of our
new comics subscription division
,
but only minimal quantities for
our
website/back issue department.
We would have liked to have ordered far more copies
from Marvel of these ground-breaking new titles, but the severe diminishment in our
new comics cash flow over the past few months has compelled us to be very conservative
in our speculative purchasing. As a result, I doubt if we will have any copies of our
original order of these first seven new Marvel #1 issues in stock after next week.
Given that many other comics retailers have had to deal with similar sales constrictions
over the past few months, spot shortages in supply on these new Marvel #1's may also exist
throughout the industry. Please advance order your copies of these new Marvel #1 issues
right away, as we do not want you to be disappointed. You can order the first seven titles
today through our
website/back issue department
with your order being shipped next Wednesday.
The remaining 40+ new Marvel titles can be reserved through Greg and Mario in our
new comics subscription division. You can call them at 303-455-2659 (weekdays 9-5) or write to them
at nice@milehighcomics.com.
On a related note, our new 30% Off HAPPINESS! codeword sale begins for you today on most of our
ten million
back issue comics and magazines.
Only
new issues
, a few variants, and our
CGC-graded
issues are excluded. In case you're wondering, I chose HAPPINESS! as our new codeword out of my
sheer relief at having finally crossed the cash flow chasm caused by Marvel's publishing hiatus.
I certainly understand why the cataclysmic events in
SECRET WARS (2015)
necessitated Marvel's
hiatus, but if nothing of a similar nature occurred again for a while, I would be quite happy...
STAR WARS:LEGACY (VOL. 2) (2013) #1 PHANTOM VARIANT
Along with commencing our new HAPPINESS! codeword, I did also want to offer you an exceptionally
cool giveaway today. Place any minimum $50 order with us over this weekend, and you will qualify
for a free (!) copy of the very rare Phantom Group variant edition of
STAR WARS LEGACY Vol. 2, #1
. This Dark Horse Comics STAR WARS comic was released just before the Dark Horse STAR WARS
license was terminated, and is thus one of the scarcest STAR WARS variants ever released. We
jumped in and purchased a goodly percentage of the entire print run when these were first
offered, and subsequently sold a slew of them at prices ranging up to $19.95 each. That having
been said, place your qualifying order over the next three days, and you can then request
your free STAR WARS variant edition in the "Notes" section of our online order form. Please
enjoy this great offer with our thanks for your continuing support of Mile High Comics.
SECRET WARS (2015) #6 MHC VARIANT
In other news, the initial fan response to our exclusive Mile High Comics variant edition of
STAR WARS (2015) #10
has vastly exceeded issues #1-#9. To quantify what I mean, we posted our cover of
#10 to
FACEBOOK
yesterday afternoon, and received over 1,150 "likes" in just 15 hours. Yow! We
only printed 4,000 copies of our variant, which I am now thinking was far too few. This issue
also releases next Wednesday, so please order your copy right away.
STAR WARS (2015) #10 MHC VARIANT
While our
STAR WARS (2015) #10 variant
received an exceptionally powerful initial response, I was
even more surprised (and quite gratified...) when we also received nearly 1,000 FACEBOOK "likes"
overnight to the announcement of our variant cover series that we are planning for the new
DEADPOOL
(2015) series. While I believe that
DEADPOOL
is going to be THE breakout movie for 2016 when it
releases in February, the reality for the present is that the fan base for
DEADPOOL
is vastly
smaller than
STAR WARS
. Clearly, however, the fans who are presently following
DEADPOOL
are
very dedicated. Their enthusiastic response on Facebook certainly helps to validate my
commitment last month to invest $60,000 to publish our "Postcards from the Marvel Universe"
variant editions to
DEADPOOL #1-#6
...
DEADPOOL (2015) #1 MHC VARIANT
If you would like to begin a subscription to our new
DEADPOOL
variant series, I urge you to contact
Greg or Mario in our
new comics subscription department
using the contact information mentioned above.
They can set you up with a subscription starting with #1, with all of your copies billed at only
$19.95 as they release. Those same issues will start at $24.95 each on our website as back issues,
and will probably increase rapidly, especially after the movie breaks in February. So you know,
while we only have a contract for issues #1-#6, my intension is to keep publishing Mile High
Comics
DEADPOOL
variants indefinitely. If the same demand pattern holds true as what occurred
with our early
STAR WARS
variants, do not be surprised if the Mile High Comics
DEADPOOL #1
variant ends up priced in the $40-$60 range by mid-summer.
I will close today's newsletter by revisiting a couple of past
Mile High Comics
and
Phantom Group
SPIDER-MAN and SPIDER-GWEN limited variants. All are in stock and available for immediate shipment.
