Wonderful STAR WARS Variant Editions Poster
Howdy!
I have several fun news items for you today. First, we just received our latest
Mile High Comics insert poster
from our printer. It features all 41 of our exclusive
Marvel Comics STAR WARS variant editions
that we have published over the past 2 1/2 years. We have published several incarnations of some
of these variant covers for you as a part of previous Mile High Comics posters, but this time
I decided that we needed to expand to a much larger size, as the cover images became so small as
to be almost unrecognizable in our previous tri-fold format. In this much larger 22" X 36" format,
however, I think that the cover images turned out really well.
MILE HIGH STAR WARS EXCLUSIVE COVERS POSTER
In case you are wondering, everyone who places an order with us over the next 30 days will receive
one of these
cool posters
included in their package, for free! Posters will also be included in all
of our
N.I.C.E. subscription club packages
for a month. All of these free posters will be folded several times, however, so they will need to
be flattened upon arrival. If you would like a
mint copy
mailed to you in a tube,
we have a few available at $9.95, which includes shipping and handling.
WALKING DEAD #168 PRIDE COVER
DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1 PRIDE COVER
My second news item for today is to mention that the
"PRIDE" variant edition
of
WALKING DEAD #168
is blowing up in the secondary market, just as expected. Current asking prices on eBay are widely
dispersed, but are predominately in the $7-$15 range. That being the case, we are going for the middle
by pricing our remaining copies at $9.95. Given the obvious enthusiasm of the members of the LGBTQ
Community for these
"PRIDE" variants,
however, I am of the opinion that there is still plenty of room for further escalation. Our copies
of the second title in the
"PRIDE" variant series,
DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1,
is now at $5.99.
BITCH PLANET TRIPLE FEATURE (2017) #1 PRIDE COVER
ROSE (2017) #3 PRIDE COVER
If you would like a complete set of all
11 of the "PRIDE" variants,
we have them for sale for the next ten days at $69.95. A set also includes a copy of the latest printing of
"LOVE IS LOVE",
the amazingly beautiful trade paperback that was published over the winter that is filled with tributes
honoring the 49 PULSE victims.
"LOVE IS LOVE"
was out of print for a while, but we were finally able to place a reorder today. Proceeds from the sale of
these sets will be dedicated toward paying the upfront production costs of our upcoming book about the life
of world-renown LGBTQ martyr,
Harvey Milk.
LOVE IS LOVE
Returning to the subject of
STAR WARS,
issue
#32,
which is the fourth installment of "SCREAMING CITADEL", released today. I find our
exclusive Mile High Comics variant
cover to
this issue
to be remarkably compelling. We have copies available for immediate shipment at only $24.95, but we must
request a limit of three copies per client, please.
STAR WARS #32 Mile High Exclusive
My final item for today is a fun story of still being a fanboy after all these years. To explain, Will Moulton
purchased a large collection of 300 early 1970's Underground Comix yesterday. I have been avidly collecting
UG's since 1974, so the vast majority of these 300 comics duplicated ones that I already own. Tucked toward
the rear of the box, however, was a copy of OFF-HAND COMICS #1, a slightly under-sized UG with
Basil-Wolverton
style art. I looked up the issue in the latest edition of Dan Fogel's wonderful UG Price Guide, but to no avail.
For all intents and purposes, no one was aware that this title even existed.
OFF-HAND
In years past, I would have been left with an unanswerable conundrum, but we now have the Internet, and
(more importantly) Facebook. I belong to a small FB group consisting of avid UG fans, so I posted the cover
and what few details I had for everyone to see. Within an hour, I was contacted by the artist,
Stephen Blickenstaff.
He told me that he published this cool little comic in 1977, in a tiny edition of about 100 copies. Wow! Stephen
continues to create incredible art, quite a bit of which you can view on his
FB page.
His style seamlessly combines
Basil-Wolverton
and
Rick Griffen
into a colorful swirl of the grotesque. Stephen also created the cover art for an album cover for the legendary
punk rock band,
THE CRAMPS.
I love being a fanboy and being able to learn new things every day!

Happy collecting!
