Free AVENGERS (1963) #1 Drawing

Howdy!

I want to start off today's newsletter with a very unusual offer for you. Effective immediately you have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a free AVENGERS (1963) #1! Yes, this is a real offer. The copy of AVENGERS #1 that we are giving away for free is in "Good" condition, with lots of wear and some cover holes, but it is nonetheless the very first appearance of the super-hero team that just grossed a billion dollars in under four weeks. I received this copy of AVENGERS #1 just yesterday as a part of a much larger comics deal, and decided (pretty much on the spur of the moment...) that offering it to you in a drawing would be much more fun than just posting it into our website listings! (click on any of the images for larger views)

The deal on the AVENGERS #1 drawing is simple: For every $20 increment of any order that you place with us online over the next couple of weeks, your name will be entered one additional time into the drawing. This means that if you place several $20 orders, or one very large order, your name will be entered multiple times into the drawing for the free AVENGERS #1. You can also enter your name into our drawing once, without making any purchase, simply by sending your name, address, and e-mail to back_issue@milehighcomics.com. I do not yet have a firm date for when the drawing for our free copy of AVENGERS #1 will be held, but I am thinking that it will be around the time of the upcoming Denver Comic-Con. Perhaps during the opening night party for the convention at our Jason St. Mega-Store, on Thursday evening, June 14th.

In other news, it would most certainly be a good idea for you to place a minimum $20 order with us today, so that you can obtain a free copy of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN: AVX VS #2. This is the second issue of the mini-series that contains the individual battles between the main characters in the two teams. This particular edition features Captain America vs. Gambit, and Colossus vs. Spider-Man. Most comics dealers that I know grossly underestimated the demand for this mini-series, so #1 was a nationwide sell-out in under a week. Simply place any minimum $20 order with us today, and you can then request your free copy of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN: AVX VS #2 in the "notes" section of our online order form. We have only 120 copies of this second issue available to give away, so please do try and get your qualifying order in to us right away.

Speaking of giveaways, we do still have a limited number of copies of the following five AVENGERS VS X-MEN comics available for free. Place any $20 order to qualify for your choice, or a minimum $75 for all five. Please do note, however, that if you also want the free copy of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN: AVX VS #2 mentioned above, that will require another $20 increment.

Moving on to other news, our huge Jason St. Open House and auction featuring writers Roger Stern and Raven Gregory will be this upcoming Saturday, from 10 AM -3 PM, at 4600 Jason St., in central Denver. We will also be having a no-minimum-bid comics and collectibles auction that day, featuring a broad variety of cool and unique items. Will Moulton told me just yesterday that he found a small original TMNT sketch yesterday by Kevin Eastman, and decided to include it as one of the more interesting items for this Saturday's auction. The auction begins at noon, and should be over by 3 PM.

My final item for today is a quick reminder that those of you who shop with us online can still place advance reservations to have comics signed by both Roger Stern and Raven Gregory. I am having Lynne add a partial list of these two creators works at the end of this newsletter for you. To receive your autographs simply place your order for any comics that these two great creators have written, and then let us know in the "notes" section which comics that you would like signed. There is a $2 fee per autograph, all of which goes to help offset travel expenses. In exchange for your $2, you do also receive a really nice certificate of authenticity for each comic signed...

I will close today's newsletter by highly recommending that those of you who have not already done so to place an advance order for our very limited edition (500 copies) Mile High Comics variant cover to GRIMM FAIRY TALES #73. We have our copies priced at a flat $20 each, with no wholesale discounts available. We have already sold a significant percentage of the entire print run, so please do order your copy right away. For those of you who pay the additional $2, Raven Gregory will be signing your GRIMM FAIRY TALES variants on Friday...
