More Free Comic Book Day Variant Editions! Howdy! A quick newsletter this morning, as I have to head for the airport in just 45 minutes. My flight to the Motor City Con leaves in just a couple of hours, and I really do not want to miss it. While Motor City is not held in the most glamorous convention center in America, you would be hard pressed to find a comics gathering with better deals on back issues. That's really important to me right now, as our online back issue comics sales have been exploding over the past 10 days. While I certainly my daughter Elsbeth's graduation, and being able to spend Mother's Day with my wife, Nanette, I am now quite ready to return to picking through long boxes filled with old comics. I already know that one dealer is bringing me a 400 long box selection (all in order!) for me to pillage, so I am really excited to be heading out on this trip! In case you're wondering, our sales have been rising so briskly because many of our prices are ridiculously low right now. I initiated a major revision of our website back issue prices over the winter, eliminating all of our "base" prices, and then dropping the prices that we actually sell comics for to unprecedented levels. In addition, as most of you already know, I've layered several wonderful codewords on top of those already generous prices in order for those of you who regularly shop with us to be able to purchase rare comics from us at darn near the same prices that I pay other dealers at conventions. That having been said, I realized yesterday that we're now suddenly at the point where so many of you are taking advantage of our great website deals that the number of comics that we are selling each day is creeping perilously close to my buying capacity. Since there is only one of me, and I really can't easily transfer my 40 years of experience to a helper, that means that I have to maybe back off a little bit on our steep discounting. I'm not going to be rash, by any means, but you can expect to see a few of our back issue prices creeping upward over the next couple of weeks. With that thought in mind, I highly recommend that (if at all possible) that you try to fill in the remaining holes in your collection now, rather than later. Our 35% off DETROIT codeword will still be in effect for you at least through this upcoming weekend, so please take a little time to enjoy yourself (please keep in mind the codeword does not apply to new comics, Dallas Stephens comics, trade paperbacks, hard covers, graphic novels, statues, or supplies). The deals on our website right now are the best you are going to see for a long, long time! My only other bit of news today is that our back issue manager, Will Moulton, just added a small selection of this year's "Silver" Free Comic Book Day titles into our Bonus Book array. We offered sets of ten of the "Gold" publisher editions last week in exchange for a $50 order, and those sets were extremely popular. The titles from FCBD that are much, much harder to find are the ones issued by the smaller publishers. Retailers tend to order these in very small quantities (if at all...) so these are the issues that sometimes gain substantially in value in the back issue comics market. The deal on these is the same as the larger set: simply place a minimum $50 order with us (you can mix back issues and trades to achieve the minimum) and you then are entitled to request in the "Notes" section of our order form that a set of the Silver FCBD editions be included in your order at no charge. Please be aware that these sets are actually Bonus Book Items, which means that you cannot also ask for another item from the list as a consequence of placing the sale order. Unless, of course, your order is well over $50, in which case you can pick more free items. In case you missed it, the way my new Bonus Book program works is pretty simple. Place your order with us as you usually would, and then ask in the "notes" section of our order form for your free item(s). If your order totals $50 (just as an example...) you would not only receive free shipping for orders being delivered in the USA, but would also be able to select either two Bonus Books from the $20 list, or one Bonus Book from the $50 list. A $125 order (which is the level at which our International buyers earn free shipping) would earn the right to select up to six items from the $20 list, or a combination of several items from the $20 and $50 list. A couple of quick terms for the giveaway program. First, we have limited supplies on a few of these items, so some will undoubtedly run out over the next couple of weeks. We do have enough for orders received this week, however, so if you order quickly all of the above giveaways should be in stock. As items do eventually run out, even more cool items will be continually added to replace them. My goal is to keep this giveaway program fun, and interesting! Second, you can order multiples of the same item, if you wish. Third, you will need to manually ask for each item you've earned via the "notes" section of the order form, as we have no way to automate this program. Finally, our International patrons need to be aware that we do still need to add the small per book shipping fees to any request for books to be delivered to International destinations.
