Free Comic Book Day Is This Saturday!
Howdy!
We were still being inundated with a record numbers of back issue comics and book orders during this past weekend, at least in part because word of our huge 60%-70% price reductions on
our website
have been spreading rapidly through social media. That being the case, I strongly encourage those of you who have been supporting us steadily over the years to take a moment today to scan through our current availability on just a few of your favorite titles. Our stock of most back issue comics is actually still quite good, but with so many newcomers now shopping with us, we will inevitably start seeing depletion of some key titles over the next few weeks.
Another factor spurring our huge increase in sales is our program of giving away one of this year's
Free Comic Book Day special editions
as a reward for each $10 spent with us through Friday afternoon. Please do note, however, that we are having to end this online giveaways program on this Friday, as we have no idea of which FCBD titles will be the ones where we give away our entire stock on Saturday. We did order an extra 10,000 (!) Free Comic Book Day editions this year, but because we are one of the few comics retailers left in the country who stock all 51 titles, we always end up running out of some issues by late in the morning on FCBD.
Secret Wars FCBD #0
A couple of additional notes about this year's FCBD. First, our guest of honor this year on FCBD at
our Jason St. Mega-Store
is Jim Shooter, the former Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics, and the creator of SECRET WARS (1984). With
SECRET WARS (2015) #0
being Marvel's lead FCBD title this year, and SECRET WARS (2015) #1-#8 completely revising what we know about the Marvel Universe in the weeks following FCBD, it seemed very appropriate to have Jim visit us to speak with fans. If you will be in Denver on this Saturday, May 2nd, come by Jason St., and meet Jim Shooter!
Second, if you would like to own a complete set of all 51 of this year's FCBD editions, we do still have a few sets available. A complete set can be yours for free with any minimum $400 order. If that is beyond your means, then place whatever order that you can afford, and for every $10 you can choose one FCBD issue from the list at the end of this newsletter. Just let us know in the "notes" section of our online order form as to which FCBD issues you would like to receive.
Finally, I did want to emphasize that SECRET WARS #0 (2015) (Marvel's lead FCBD edition for this year...) is not a reprint, or any kind of filler issue. It is actually the first chapter of this incredible new series, which you must own to be able to read the entire SECRET WARS (2015) story. If you cannot lock in a guaranteed copy of this critical issue with your local comics shop, be sure and place an order with us so that you absolutely know that you have a copy on the way to you. We ordered 1,500 extra copies of this key issue, but we still believe that the odds are that we will run out of SECRET WARS #0 long before Saturday ends. 'Nuff said.
Happy Collecting!
