1,000 Golden Age and Silver Age Comics! Howdy! Our good friends Tanya and Al Stoltz of Basement Comics (click on image for larger view) I want to start off today by thanking everyone who has placed an order with us during this past week, but most especially those of you who utilized the 35% off PITTSBURGH codeword that I put into effect on Wednesday (please keep in mind the codeword does not apply to new comics, Dallas Stephens comics, trade paperbacks, hard covers, graphic novels, statues, or supplies). Thanks to your strong response to this generous new codeword sale, I was in a strong enough financial position last evening to begin working on purchasing a deal that contains over 1,000 Golden Age (1940's and 1950's) and Silver Age (1960's and 1970's) comics. While most are over 40 years old, these are not particularly expensive comics (we will price the majority of them for you in the $7-$20 range...), as most of them are in the Fair/Good/Very Good grades. That having been said, I know from experience that a great many of you like to purchase "reading copies" of these cool older comics at lower prices. That's completely understandable to me, as my own personal comics collection contains several thousand lower grade Golden Age and Silver Age comics, as I like being able to simply read them, over and over again. Speaking of lower grade comics, have you checked out our Marvel A-D listings this week? While our main inventory crew has been focused on adding thousands of issues into our New-In-Stock listings from the middle of the DC alphabet ( DETECTIVE, FLASH, GREEN LANTERN, HARLEY QUINN, JLA, JSA, etc.), Bob (who has my authority to intentionally downgrade NM issues to lower grades), has added several thousand bargain-priced Marvels. I do know that some astute collectors are already aware of Bob's efforts, as we've seen a marked pick up in sales of lower-grade copies of titles such as AVENGERS, BLACK PANTHER, CAPTAIN AMERICA, CONAN, DAREDEVIL, and EXCALIBUR. It stings a little when Bob's downgrades (which are oftentimes priced at under $2) are purchased with the 35% PITTSBURGH codeword discount also taken, but hey, that's what bargain-hunting is all about... Bob will be adding a slew of downgraded Marvel "F" and "G" titles today and tomorrow, so keep a sharp eye on our New-In-Stock update each morning for some incredible bargains.
