Free AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #2 Variants

Howdy!

Avengers vs
X-Men #2
Today, I have simply a fantastic free comics offer for you. As most of you are already aware, Marvel Comics has had a huge hit in the past 30 days with their new AVENGERS VS. X-MEN crossover. All of the first printings sold out well before this new series even released, and the 18 different variant covers to AVENGERS VS. X-MEN have been the highest demand new comics offered on our website in many, many years. Blessedly, I predicted that this new series would be successful (although even I had no idea quite how much...), so we stocked extra-heavily on all the issues, including those offered only to retailers who met substantial pre-order requirements, and those who hosted AVENGERS VS. X-MEN Premiere Parties. Even with us ordering all those extra copies, however, we are now running low on almost all first printings of #0 and #1.

All of the above having been said, the special offer that I have for you today involves the three different covers to AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #2 that will release on this Wednesday morning, along with second printings to issues #0 and #1. Once again, we ordered all of these editions very heavily, specifically so that we could offer you any one of these five new AVENGERS VS. X-MEN possibilities from us as a free bonus for placing any $20 order with us. You can chose one additional free item for each $20 increment of your order, or, if you are trying to maintain a complete set of all the AVENGERS VS. X-MEN comics, you can request that all five of these newly-released issues be sent to you for free as a reward for placing a minimum $75 order with us. Simply place your order with us as per usual, and then just ask for your earned free issue(s) in the "Notes" section of our order form. It's just that easy to get free AVENGERS VS. X-MEN variant editions from us entirely for free!

As an aside, as far as we currently know, all three of the first printing copies of #2 are already sold out from Marvel and Diamond Distributing. Also, when we went to place a reorder on the seconding printings of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #0 and #1 this morning, we were informed that our reorder was confirmed, but that they were on "Local Backorder," which is a status that generally indicates that an issue is right on the edge of selling out.

While I am presuming at this point that we will receive the extra copies that we just reordered on the second printings of #0 and #1, you need to know that there have been times when Diamond has confirmed an order for us, and then has simply not shipped. I am most certainly hoping that does not turn out to be the case on these new printings of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #0 and #1, as second printings have turned out to be a very big deal in the back issue world over the past decade. To explain why later printings matter so much, up until about ten years ago second printings were considered inferior to firsts, and sold at a substantial discounts. Starting around the year 2005, however, we started seeing a substantial growth in demand for second printings, especially when they had variant covers.

This demand for second printings has accelerated over the last couple of years, to the point where we are now selling out of many second printings faster than first printings! The main reason for this new phenomena is the recognition by many astute fans that second printings are almost always printed in much lower numbers than firsts. A classic case in point is the gold cover to the first issue of SPIDER-MAN (1990). While all the covers to that cool Todd McFarlane Spider-Man comic were a big hit when it was first released, the once-scorned Gold cover second printings to #1 are the ones that now sell the best for us, with the newsstand edition Gold cover bringing crazy money (when we can find one...). Suffice it to say, I think at you should try to place at least a $40 order with us right now so at you can at least qualify for free copies of the second printings of both #0 and #1. Heaven only knows if we are going to be able to get any more copies...

Three other quick news notes before I leave you today. First, all six of those huge Golden Age/Silver Age/Bronze Age comics collections that we purchased at the beginning of last week have now been graded, and are immediately available in our Premium New-In-Stock and regular New-In-Stock listings for you. This is the biggest and best grouping of older comics that we have purchased in many years! Second our ongoing 50% Off MADNESS! codeword sale on all of our back issue comics applies not only to all 5,000 of those pre-1980 comics from those six great collections, but also to all of the rest of our eight million back issue comics and magazines that we offer you on our website. Only new comics from the past twelve months, CGC-graded comics, books, statues, and other non-comics items are excluded from our incredible half price back issues sale.

Finally, I will be speaking in Denver on this upcoming Saturday evening at approximately 8:30 PM at the Denver FilmCenter Theater on East Colfax Ave. I will be giving a short talk and answering questions after the 7 PM screening of COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN'S HOPE, the Morgan Spurlock-directed documentary about the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. This movie is in very limited theatrical release right now, but has been made simultaneously available as a Video On Demand download, which explains why it already has 24,000 fans on Facebook! I am one of the primary "subjects" of the film, which explains why I was asked to answer questions about the movie on Saturday evening. If you live near the theater, hope that I can chat with you for a while at the movie screening!

Happy Collecting!
