8,000 DC's Added GREEN LANTERN - WONDER WOMAN!

I'm back at home in Colorado today, after finishing the loading of the huge tractor-trailer full of comics that I purchased in Southern California last week. In case those of you who read this are wondering if a tractor-trailer can ever be overloaded with comics, yes, it can. I knew on Friday that we were pushing the upper limits of even this gigantic 53' truck, as I noticed that we were packing a disproportionate number of newer comics in the 300,000+ selection of comics stored in one section of this vast warehouse. As most of you already know, newer comics are much heavier than the comics that were published during the period prior to 1988.
Comics from the past five years, in particular, weigh nearly double the weight of the old newsprint editions. Where this ultimately led to was that we ended up with 44,700 lbs. of comics and magazines in a truck that could legally only transport 42,000 lbs. Blessedly, I had anticipated this problem, so I packed the last two pallets (mostly 1970's Marvel and Warren magazines) for easy removal. They'll arrive in Denver at the same time as the main truck, but at about triple the shipping cost per lb. since they'll be going at LTL (less than truckload) rates. I really don't mind the small extra cost, however, as these two magazine pallets contain an astounding number of rare issues. Give us a week to get them graded, and you'll see exactly what I mean...
While I am home at my beloved farm in Boulder today, I'll be leaving at the crack of dawn tomorrow (my 55th birthday...) for Orlando.
MegaCon
is in Orlando this weekend, which is one of my favorite conventions of the year. Sadly, the comics participation at MegaCon is in decline, as it increasingly becoming one of the premier Manga/Anime conventions in America. Just enough comics dealers continue to show up, however, to still make it well worth attending. I already have one deal for 30,000 comics pending at the show, so my weekend at MegaCon should be very, very busy.
That having been said, if you do get a chance to come by the beautiful Orlando Convention Center over the weekend, please look for me on the show floor. I love meeting the readers of this newsletter, even when it seems that I am otherwise preoccupied buying comics. If you see me working in the dealer's room, please don't hesitate to introduce yourself. I'd love to spend a couple of minutes chatting with you!
After Orlando, I'll be off to London. I found a cheaper fare to London directly from Orlando, so I will not come back to Colorado after MegaCon. The London show is at the Royal National Hotel, only on Sunday, the 21st. This will probably be my only stop in London this year, so if you get a chance, please stop by and visit with me.
Also, since I'll be seeking British (Pence) editions of US comics, if you have any you might wish to sell, please bring them along. I'd be most interested in taking a look at them.
I now want to make a REALLY BIG DEAL (!) of mentioning our current
trade paperbacks and hardbacks
sale. At the present time, we have all of our trade paperbacks and hardbacks priced for you on our website at 30%-50% off, with all of our Marvel and DC trade paperbacks at a whopping 40% off. I bring these discounts to your attention because we are calling a complete halt to our usual frenetic grading of scarce
back issue comics
today, in order to focus the combined energy of our entire inventory crew into grading an immense private library that we purchased earlier this week. Aside from a broad selection of Marvel and DC trade paperbacks published during the past 20 years, this one incredible book collection contains a very large number of
MARVEL MASTERWORKS and DC ARCHIVE EDITIONS. Many of these books are now out-of-print and quite hard to locate in the secondary market, so this one exceptionally large private library will add a single copy each of hundreds of books into our inventory that have not have been available for you to purchase for a year, or even longer.
Presuming that our overnight inventory update program runs properly, we should have all (or at least most) of these trade paperbacks and hardback books available for you to purchase online at approximately 11 AM, tomorrow (Thursday). I will mention, once again, that we received only ONE COPY EACH (!) of these books, so I highly recommend that all avid book collectors visit our website
New-In-Stock
listings on Thursday morning, promptly at 11 AM Mountain Time.
While all of
our books
are fully discounted on
our website
right now, you can still deduct a full 30% from the cost of your order for
back issue comics and magazines
by entering our ongoing 40YEARS codeword into the line provided on our order form. Only books, new comics, and Dallas Stephens consignment issues, are excluded from this sale. In total, over six million of our back issue comics and magazines are eligible right now for the 30% off 40YEARS savings. This total includes all of the eligible back issue comics listed in our
New-In-Stock
area. Our 30% discount on New-In-Stock items is a quite important factor for you, as we are adding approximately 4,000 comics per day into our New-In-Stock listings. At the beginning of last week we added 8,000 Marvels, mid-week we added 4,000 Image comics, and at the end of last week we added 8,000 Dark Horse issues. We started off this week with an exceptionally
nice grouping of 8,000 DC comics,
ranging from DETECTIVE-WONDER WOMAN.
As an aside, I wanted to be sure that you know that I utilize special custom-generated inventory books when I am buying from other dealers at conventions. That is why I can tell you with great certainty that a large percentage of the comics that we have added into our system over the past ten days are ones that were either previously out-of-stock on
our website,
or were in such short supply that we were forced to charge premium prices. As we've recently added these thousands of comics from my East Coast buying trip into
our inventory,
we have not only filled a great number of out-of-stocks, but our automated pricing algorithm has also been able to incrementally decrease a great number of our prices for you on scarce issues. We finished grading and inventorying these comics just yesterday, so if you check out our
New-In-Stock
listings right now (for best selection - don't delay!), you'll see the very scarcest of the issues that I found on the East Coast. Please don't forget, however, to enter the 40YEARS codeword into the line provided on our order form. I really do want to save you money whenever I can on your comics purchases, so it never ceases to come as a shock to me when I see so many orders arriving that just don't use the codeword. Some of those orders are from new customers who do not yet know about codewords, but I do still see a few of our long time supporters forgetting to take the 30% discount. Saving 30% is a big deal, so please remember to use the 40YEARS codeword!
Well, that's it for today. I'll close by mentioning that my very wise daughter, Rowan, did make me take her to Disneyland on last Friday evening. I've been to Disneyland nearly 100 times over the past 40 years, but my all-time favorite Disney experience is the Captain EO 3-D show/dance video that Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas created with Michael Jackson during the late-1980's.
Disney made the regrettable decision to unilaterally shut down Captain EO about a 15 years ago, after allegations about Jackson's private life created a scandal. Now that he has passed on, however, they felt comfortable in once again presenting this incredible 3-D extravaganza. Even after more than 20 years have passed, this groundbreaking utilization of 3-D effects, music, fantastic sets, and dancing creates an incredible impression. I have no idea of how long Disney will let it keep playing, but if you can get over to Disneyland anytime soon, be sure and set aside the time to see Captain EO. Even if you have already seen the show several times in the past, the "making of Captain EO" trailer that they now show in the waiting area is well worth your time...
Happy Collecting!

In case you missed it, the way my new Bonus Book program works is pretty simple. Place your order with us as you usually would, and then ask in the "notes" section of our order form for your free item(s). If your order totals $50 (just as an example...) you would not only receive free shipping for orders being delivered in the USA, but would also be able to select either two Bonus Books from the $20 list, or one Bonus Book from the $50 list. A $125 order (which is the level at which our International buyers earn free shipping) would earn the right to select up to six items from the $20 list, or a combination of several items from the $20 and $50 list.
A couple of quick terms for the giveaway program. First, we have limited supplies on a few of these items, so some will undoubtedly run out over the next couple of weeks. We do have enough for orders received this week, however, so if you order quickly all of the above giveaways should be in stock. As items do eventually run out, even more cool items will be continually added to replace them. My goal is to keep this giveaway program fun, and interesting!
Second, you can order multiples of the same item, if you wish. Third, you will need to manually ask for each item you've earned via the "notes" section of the order form, as we have no way to automate this program. Finally, our International patrons need to be aware that we do still need to add the small per book shipping fees to any request for books to be delivered to International destinations.
