Howdy!

After spending the past three weeks on the road buying back issue comics, I am now ready to begin a 30-day marathon of harvesting comics in our new Jason St. warehouse. Six months after moving into that wonderful new building, we are now at the point where we can utilize the 50,000+ square feet of extra storage space that we gained. Our having extra storage space may not at first seem to be significant to you, but a simple truth about the back issue comics business is that it is much easier to buy masses of comics, than it is to put them in order. For us, the labor time to prepare comics for sale on our website oftentimes exceeds the cost of the comics themselves, especially in the case of the millions of comics that we offer you each day for under $2 each.

The great news for you today is that we now have easy access to the one million+ overstock comics that we already own that we put in alpha-numeric order by publisher over the past five years. We built those multiple systems of overstock comics gradually, as we steadily put groupings of 20,000 -30,000 Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, and Independent publisher comics into order. Over the years we would then compare our current inventory against those individual groupings, and select out only those issues that we immediately needed for grading. The long boxes filled with back issues that we did not immediately need were then stacked on pallets, and stored in our much smaller Fox St. warehouse, where many of them sat, untouched, for half a decade, or longer.

Where I am now going to be able to create great benefit for you, is in being able to quickly reanalyze those many systems of back issue comics overstock. Our inventory has changed a great deal over the past decade, so there are innumerable instances where comics we had plenty of in stock in 2005-2012, are now completely sold out on our website. My goal over the next 30 days will be to find those valuable missing issues, and to send them on to Pam's inventory team for grading. I am estimating that I can locate at least 5,000 comics per day that we can use to improve our inventory, so my next four weeks should be exceptionally beneficial for you. Not only will we be eliminating many of our gaps in our current inventory, but by adding more copies to many individual issues, our automated pricing program will immediately drop our base prices for you on all of those comics. This is all good!

While I will be beginning my exciting new project today, Pam's inventory team is already keeping quite busy adding into our website inventory the tens of thousands of highly desirable comics that I purchased on my two recent buying trips. As a case in point, I brought back 1,000 Golden Age (1945-1955), Silver Age (1956-1975), and Bronze Age (1976-1982) comics with me Monday evening on the airplane from Orlando. A significant number of these comics are quite rare, and many are in the much sought-after higher grades of Very Fine and Near Mint. Simply put, this is the largest and best single grouping of older comics that we have put into our Premium New-In-Stock link in over a year. If you are seeking older comics at great prices for your collection, you absolutely do need to immediately click on our Premium New-In-Stock link for today. I think that you will be very pleased with this exceptional new selection of great older comics.

While the comics that I brought back from Orlando are quite nice, what is even nicer is that I have at least 1,000 more great older comics still stored on the pallets that I shipped back from New York, two weeks ago. I promised Pam that I would ferret out a selection of those comics for her this afternoon, so you can already anticipate that our Premium New-In-Stock listings for the next couple of days are also going to be excellent. Also, I do want to make note of the fact that I intentionally kept our annual 50% Off SWEETHEART codeword sale in effect for you for an extra five days, specifically so that these older comics from New York and Orlando would still be available to you at half the prices listed on our website (please keep in mind the codeword does not apply to new comics, trade paperbacks, hard covers, graphic novels, CGCs, treasury sized items, statues, or supplies). The 50% Off SWEETHEART codeword sale will be ending, however, next Monday, at 11 AM. 'Nuff said.

My only other bit of news for today is a quick mention that Pam's inventory team is also adding nearly 20,000 more recent back issues into our online inventory each week. These 1983-2012 comics run the gamut of all publishers and titles, but are generally ones that I have personally selected during my buying trips. My primary criteria while buying recent comics is that I seek out all the most popular titles and issue numbers, with a special emphasis on those 2009-2012 issues that we are unlikely to already have copies available in our overstock systems. In addition to the tens of thousands of newer comics that we have already graded, we now have about 60,000 of these highly desirable newer issues waiting to be graded, so our overall New-In-Stock listing for the next month is going to be amazingly diverse and interesting for you!

Happy Collecting!
