Howdy!

As the sun is breaking on the horizon this morning, the entire world is a beautiful white. I know the magic won't last, but as the sun sparkles on the two inches of fresh snow that we received overnight, the whole world looks fresh and clean. The water contained in the snow is also a real blessing, as the winter here in Boulder, Colorado has been exceptionally dry. I'll have to delay my journey to the Mile High Comics offices by a bit this morning to let the roads clear, but the moisture that we received for our pastures is well worth that slight inconvenience.

Even though I will be starting my workday a little late, a great many positive things are happening right now at Mile High Comics. As a case in point, our inventory crew will be continuing this morning to fill up the huge "new" magazine rack that I slowly reconstructed over the past three weeks, with 700 boxes containing our magazine pulling files. For many years, we concentrated almost exclusively on grading and entering into our online inventories Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image comics. We did process many thousands of magazines during that same period of time, but we focused almost exclusively on grading Marvel, Starlog, and Warren magazines. Magazines from most other publishers (of which there are hundreds...) were set aside to be graded at some undetermined "later" date. Well, with this fantastic new steel shelving unit now available to us, we've gone full bore on grading the huge backlog of magazines that we've piled up around the warehouse. Our speediest grader, Reese, has already worked his way through eight 6' high pallets of magazines, and is now working on his ninth! Thanks to his diligent efforts, we have immensely expanded our overall selection of comics, science fiction, and old horror magazines of all kinds. If you haven't checked out our magazine listings in a while, you really should! Not only has our selection greatly expanded, but in the instances where Reese graded significant numbers of multiples of the same magazine, our prices have also been slashed. These magazine price reductions are most likely temporary, however, as once we finish processing this backlog, it will probably become much more difficult for us to find replacements for the scarce issues that we had stashed for so many years.

While Reese has been working diligently on grading magazines, the rest of our inventory team has been adding Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, and Independent comics into our website listings in huge quantities. I realized this morning that I have been somewhat remiss, in that I have not alerted you to the fact that so many great comics bargains have been added to our website during the past six weeks. With that thought in mind, I am including quick links for you below to our steeply discounted back issues:

Marvel Comics OnSale
DC Comics OnSale
Image Comics OnSale
Dark Horse Comics OnSale

As per usual, if you want to peruse our steep discount sales on Independent comics, you will need to look up each individual title. Otherwise, the listings would be just too long! I can, however, provide you with links to all of our older comics, as they are coded for easy access:

Golden Age Comics
Silver Age Comics
Bronze Age Comics
CGC-Graded Comics

Before I forget to mention this fact, all of our older comics are listed for you right now at a minimum of 66% off, with a few at higher discounts. This sale even includes ALL of our scarcest ACG, ARCHIE, CHARLTON, DELL, EC, FAWCETT, GOLD KEY, HARVEY, WARREN, and WHITMAN titles! Quite a few older comics are also available through our New-In-Stock and $50+ New-In-Stock listings, so they are also well worth perusing.

Finally, our ridiculously generous 50% off sale on all of our Marvel and DC trade paperbacks, and our 30% off sale on all of our Marvel and DC hardbacks, ends on this upcoming Friday, at noon Colorado Time. As I fully expected, a great many of you immediately took advantage of this incredible book sale. What I hadn't realized at the time that I put this sale into effect, however, was that with my offering you 50% off on all of our Marvel and DC trade paperbacks, and my also allowing you to earn free shipping at $50 (domestic) and $125 (International), no express carriers, I'm allowing you to buy books from us at a greater discount than most comics retailers pay Diamond when ordering wholesale! On many levels, that's just a bit too crazy... Blessedly, I had a massive restock of trade paperbacks and hardbacks already on order from Diamond, so our listings will surge with additional book titles this afternoon and tomorrow. That should help us to replace most of the books that just sold out. Suffice it to say, if you still want to take advantage of this crazy book sale, you do need to hurry to get your order in to us right away. I am definitely not going to extend this trade paperbacks and hardbacks sale past Friday, at noon...

My final item for today is a reminder that the benefit auction for the University of Colorado comics program will be this upcoming Friday afternoon, at 5:30 PM, in the University Memorial Center on the Boulder Campus. The auction will be in the art gallery on the second floor, which has been showing an incredible exhibit of 50+ pieces of rare comics original art for the past 30 days. The auction is timed to coincide with the end of the gallery show, so if you live in Colorado, this is your last chance to see some incredible comics art, including 12 pieces from my own personal collection. I will be the auctioneer, and I guarantee that a fun time will be had by all! For those of you who cannot attend the auction, you can place an e-mail prebid by contacting lynne@milehighcomics.com. This is a no minimum bid auction, so I would be quite surprised if even some very low prebids did not end up winning some of the better lots. The entire auction listing is printed for you at the end of this newsletter.

That's it for today. Before I head for Denver, I need to quickly weed around some red chard and kale plants in the huge greenhouse that we have here on our farm. Somehow, there's not much in the world that is more pleasant than working in a warm greenhouse, on a sunny late winter's morning...

Happy Collecting!
