FIGHTING AMERICAN (1966) (#1) (HARVEY COMICS) #1 - Plot Synopsis

Fighting American (1966) #1
Here are glorious reprints of Jack Kirby and Joe Simon's classic 1950s patriotic hero who battled Communists with a humorous twist as well as his fists. When Simon and Kirby moved on after creating Captain America for Timely-Atlas, they dreamed up Fighting American and gave him a Bucky-like sidekick named Speedboy. From his first issue, F.A. was going toe-to-toe with the Red Menace, including Soviet spies in the U.S. and abroad.

In later issues, the Fighting American title took on a sillier tone with villains getting wackier with each new issue. In this collection, you'll find "Round Robin" about a rotund rogue who rolls his way through robberies; "Peter Piper's Red Vipers" in which F.A. and Speedboy bust a gang of false impresarios; "Roman Scoundrels" about an epic film that's actually a murder plot; "Duel to the Finish Line" about a deadly road rally in Europe; "Find the King of the Crime Syndicate" featuring the incredible Double-Header; "The League of the Handsome Devils" featuring a bevy of beastly bandits and "The Secret of Yafata's Moustache," a kind of South of the Border love story.
