Angel: After the Fall (2007) #9
Plot by Joss Whedon and Bryan Lynch, with art by Nick Runge and Shayne Corbett. Angel has challenged the demon lords of L.A. to one-on-one combat for the safety of the city's innocents. But, as deals with demons often go, the rules soon are swiftly broken and all out combat between Angel's champions and the demon-lords' champions breaks out. By Angel's side stands Lorne, Illyria, Wesley's ghost, Connor, Gwen the electro-girl, Spike and a late arrival from Pylea, the legendary Groosalugg!
As the battle rages on, standing above it all amid the flaming wreckage of the law offices of Wolfram & Hart, is Gunn, now a vampire in charge of his own undead crew and apparently seeking vengeance on Angel for abandoning him during the most recent of a series of Apocalypses. Gunn watches as Angel's faction wins the day, with the timely reversal of allegiance by one of the demon-lords, and returns to their new/old headquarters at the Hyperion Hotel. There, Illyria (who keeps switching form and minds with Fred thanks to Wolfram & Hart's meddling) tries to come to an understanding of where her relationship stands with Wesley (which is complicated now that he's all dead and so forth).
