ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL (IDW) (2007) #3 INC B - Plot Synopsis

Angel: After the Fall (2007) #3
Plotted by Joss Whedon and Brian Lynch. Script by Lynch. Art by Franco Urru. Following the events after the final season of the Angel TV series, this comic shows fans what happened to the City of Los Angeles after demons took it over. As the sole surviving representative of Wolfram & Hart, Angel has to walk a razor's edge, keeping the demon-lords of the various neighborhoods happy, while sparing as many human lives as he can. His job has been made infinitely harder by the murder of the demonic Lord of Westwood, an act that has the rest of the evil lords ready to go to war with what's left of humanity.

Seeking information from Spike, Angel has fallen afoul of his house-guest Illyria, the ancient demon inhabiting the body of his deceased friend Fred. Her attack is merciless and multi-dimensional as she uses her sorcery to "un-stick" Angel in time, disorienting him as he struggles to defend himself. Only the timely intervention of his pet dragon and his son Conner saves Angel from disembowelment. Our hero is forced to leave without getting any answers and comes up with a plan born of desperation. To stave off the wholesale slaughter of innocents, Angel issues a challenge to take on all of the demon-lords one by one; a gambit made all the more foolish by a devastating secret Angel is keeping hidden from everyone.
