ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL (IDW) (2007) #23 B - Plot Synopsis

Angel: After the Fall (2007) #23
"Epilogue: Become What You Are" is written by Bryan Lynch and drawn by Franco Urru. As a vampire hunter working the streets of L.A., Charles Gunn was dedicated to wiping out blood-suckers wherever he saw them. His resolve became rock-solid when vamps turned his sister, forcing him to stake her into dust right before his eyes. However, meeting Angel, the vampire with a soul who was pre-destined to be a champion of the innocent, made Gunn realize that not all demons deserved his unremitting enmity. However, when he himself was turned by vampires into one of the living dead, Gunn realized he wasn't going to be the warm, fuzzy kind like Angel or Spike.

Killing Connor, torturing Angel, imprisoning Slayers: the list of Gunn the vampire's sins grew long in very short order. And now that he's human again and time has been re-set to before the time he was turned, Charles can't forget the horrific crimes he committed during L.A.'s long stint as a suburb of Hell. Further, whenever he looks at Illyria, he realizes it was his actions as a human, long before he was vamped, that killed Fred, the woman whose form the demoness has assumed. Can Gunn live with the deeds of either of his sordid pasts or will the transgressions of two lifetimes prove too much to bear?
