Angel: After the Fall (2007) #16
Death of Angel. Despite all of the curses and prophecies and Machiavellian plots against him, Angel has always strived to be his own man. Even when he agreed to take over the Los Angeles branch of the supernaturally evil law firm Wolfram & Hart, Angel worked hard to maintain control over his own destiny. But now that L.A. has slipped into hell, most of his friends and his son Connor are dead or transformed into demonic monsters, and Wolfram & Hart seems to have painted him into a karmic corner, Angel begins to doubt whether he'll ever set his own course again.
The latest bad turn of events has been orchestrated by Angel's former comrade-in-arms Charles Gunn, who was transformed into a vampire after a battle in which Angel abandoned him. Gunn is key to the plan cooked up by Wolfram & Hart in which Angel will not only fail to save mankind but will also destroy it. There's only one thing for Angel to do: let Gunn take his life! That'll make things all better, won't it? Plotted by Joss Whedon and Brian Lynch, written by Lynch with art by Franco Urru.
