Angel: After the Fall (2007) #13
Death of Gwen Raiden, the electric girl. Plotted by Joss Whedon and Brian Lynch. Written by Lynch and drawn by Stephen Mooney. Mid-way through the final season of the Angel TV series, lovable science nerd Winifred "Fred" Burkle was tragically transformed into the ancient demon god Illyria. Although she appeared nearly the same on the outside, nothing of Fred remained in the resurrected elder deity. Or so our heroes thought. Soon, they were horrified to find that Illyria retained some of Fred's memories, could imitate her and was beginning to feel her emotions as well.
Now with the entire city of Los Angeles plunged into hell, Illyria's "mockery" of Fred is viewed as a cold comfort for those who loved the beautiful young scientist. One of those who loved Fred is Spike, the "other" vampire with a soul, who has her on his mind as he storms the building where Gunn, now a soulless vampire, has Angel under his blade. And on Angel's mind is long-dead Cordelia, who haunts his thoughts as he stands on the brink of death, contemplating the horrific role Wolfram & Hart has cast for him in the coming Apocalypse.
