THOR (1962) (#83-125 JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, 126-502) #318 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Thor (1962) #318
Cover and interior art by Gil Kane. "A Kingdom Lost" is written by Doug Moench. Bristling at an old man's tale to children proclaiming Thor will never lose a battle to evil, Loki hatches yet another scheme to destroy his half-brother. Borrowing five Norn Stones from Karnilla, Queen of the Norns, Loki flies to the bare wasteland called Nastrond. There a great kingdom had once thrived until its ruler Fafnir defied Odin, the All-Father. For his impertinence, Fafnir was turned into a dragon and his kingdom was made desolate.

Bringing Fafnir with him to Earth, Loki chooses mysterious Easter Island as the place where he hopes to trap Thor. Fafnir's splashdown in the ocean waters off the island causes a huge tsunami to threaten its populace. Thor races to the rescue and constructs a huge seawall to buy emergency workers more time to evacuate the island. But Loki's Norn Stones bring the island's enigmatic monoliths to life and once the Thunder God deals with them, he still has to face Fafnir! Plus, pin-ups of the "Gods and Goddesses of Asgard" (written by Mark Gruenwald and Ralph Macchio with art by Keith Pollard).
