KING KONG (1991) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: King Kong #1
The official adaptation of the fantasy classic! Adapted and illustrated by Donald Simpson and based on the original story as conceived by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper. Cover by Dave Stevens. A down on their luck ship's crew and an off-the-wall movie producer decide to brave the odds once more to bring cutting edge adventure films to the American movie-going public. While other filmmakers shoot their jungle pics safe inside Hollywood studios, Carl Denham drags his crew out on location to the most fantastic places on the planet.

Acting upon legends of a mythical beast in a South Pacific island, Denham assembles his staff and finds a street waif to be his leading lady. In a location called Skull Island that's not on any map, the crew finds a tribe of primitives about to sacrifice a young virgin to their god Kong. But seeing Denham's young, blond leading lady Ann, they decide they must have her instead. In the dead of night, the tribesmen sneak aboard Denham's ship and snatch the actress. Before the crew can respond, Ann is tied to stakes on the other side of the tribe's massive wooden wall and given over to the most massive simian on the planet: King Kong!
