|Plot Synopsis: Hulk Annual (1968) #15|
"Body Double!" is written by Danny Fingeroth and drawn by Sal Buscema. Cover by Mike Zeck. Two of the Hulk's greatest enemies return in one ugly, gamma-powered package. The Abomination was once a Soviet spy who was exposed to the same gamma radiation that transformed mild mannered Bruce Banner into the rampaging Hulk. Smarter and stronger than the Hulk (when old Jade Jaws wasn't enraged), the Abomination frequently clashed with our hero over the years. He was atomized, however, when he failed his master Modok in one of many quests to destroy the Hulk. Tyrannus was a citizen of ancient Rome who came across the Flame of Life and became the immortal ruler of an underground race of subterranean humanoids. After merging with mystic Flame, Tyrannus was on the verge of destroying the Hulk when instead he was dispersed into outer space.
Somehow, these two disembodied intelligences merged and became once again corporeal. Crashing back to Earth, the monster with the body of the Abomination and the will of Tyrannus seeks out their old foe, the Hulk. Bruce Banner, meanwhile, is trying to recreate the chemical bath that Doc Samson and S.H.I.E.L.D. used to recently split him into two separate beings. That treatment had to be reversed when Banner found he was dying without the Hulk. But Banner's hope is that once apart from the Hulk, he'll be able to control and perhaps destroy the tortured gamma-ray powered creature without endangering his own life. Before Banner can begin, however, the Abomination/Tyrannus creature crashes in and demands the process be used on him. To ensure Banner's compliance, the monster kidnaps Betty, Bruce's wife. However, Clay Quartermain, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. is hot on the villain's trail. And if you push Bruce Banner too far, you're bound to get into it with the Hulk!
