HULK (1962) (#1-6, #102-474, #600-635)(INCREDIBLE)(MV) #187 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hulk (1962) #187
"There's a Gremlin in the Works!" is written by Len Wein and drawn by Herb Trimpe and Joe Staton. Can this issue's cover blurb really be true? Can the Hulk really be dead, defeated at the hands of the misshapen Gremlin? For the answers to these questions, you have start at the beginning as Hulkbuster Base struggles to rebuild in the wake of the Devastator's recent attack. While the military engineers and building crews go to work, Gen. "Thunderbolt" Ross and Bruce Banner set about the task of rescuing Major Glenn Talbot who has been captured by the Soviets while conducting a high-flying spy mission. In order to do the job right, Ross calls on his old friend Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. for aid.

Fury sends one of his best agents, Clay Quartermain, on the mission and passes along intelligence S.H.I.E.L.D. has gathered on Bitterfrost, a high-tech, top-secret installation deep in frozen Siberia. It's there that Talbot is being held. Making the rescue even more difficult is the fact that Bitterfrost is controlled by none other than the Hulk's old foe, the Gremlin (see Hulk #3); a diminutive genius also mutated by gamma rays. Although the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and Ross manage to get past the Gremlin's defenses undetected, stowaway Bruce Banner does not. Instead Banner Hulks out in truly spectacular fashion. A battle with theGremlin's invincible Super-Soldiers ensues and the Hulk is felled. Ross and his team manage to rescue Talbot. But is it too late? Has Soviet brainwashing already done its job on the military hero?
