HELLBOY: THE ISLAND (2005) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hellboy: The Island (2005) #1
At long last Mike Mignola's legendary monster-hunter returns to the pages of Dark Horse Comics. After two years of being on sabbatical from the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Development (B.P.R.D.), Hellboy has gone through quite a bit. He's defeated the Bog Roosh and rejected her offer of oblivion, which would've freed him from the pain of his life and the virtual certainty of a hellish destiny. He's also traveled through Africa and encountered the power of Hecate, a witch dwelling within an Iron Maiden who offers him a similar deal.

But now he's washed ashore on an island populated by ghosts and legendary menaces. After a few nights spent drinking rum with skeletons aboard a beached ghost ship, Hellboy makes his way to a castle where an ancient drama plays itself out before his mind's eye. A sorcerer enchained before a priest and his armed men is pierced with many spears for defying God's will. But the old magician plays his last trick, allowing his blood to act as a thing alive, sealing the priest's castle and all within from the outside world and from the ravages of time. Into this story comes Hellboy who must do battle with the hellish worm that has birthed from the sorcerer's lifeblood, when all Hellboy wants is another bottle of rum!
