DEFENDERS (1972) (#1-152) (MARVEL) #118 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Defenders (1972) #118
"The Double!" is written by J.M. DeMatteis and drawn by Don Perlin. Spotlight on the Son of Satan. Imagine coming home after a long trip and finding that someone has taken your place. A complete and utter lookalike has been walking around in your clothes, keeping your social appointments, doing your job, living in your house, and worse, he's even advanced your relationship with that girl you always wanted to ask out but were afraid to approach. Imagine that and you might begin to approximate the feeling coming over Daimon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan, who has spent many months with his fellow Defenders searching for the cosmic entity known as Eternity. Upon returning the Georgetown in Washington, D.C., Daimon finds a doppleganger in his place, teaching his parapsychology course and loving the beautiful Seripha Thames.

At first Daimon just follows his double secretly, hoping to catch some clue as to the duplicate's sinister agenda. But he finds none and when he returns to his apartment, Daimon finds the other Daimon has followed him. Using his Hell-spawned mental abilities, Daimon determines that this other is a perfect duplicate of his soul. In savage, fiery combat the Son of Satan realizes that this new Daimon is ever bit his equal as well. Meanwhile, Patsy (Hellcat) Walker confides in the Gargoyle that fulfilling her dream of writing a book about her super-hero career is proving harder than she'd anticipated. And, that she may be falling in love with the Son of Satan! And, the lovely Luann Bloom, an assistant to Kyle (Nighthawk) Richmond, takes a ride in a mystic Model T with a now familiar gun-toting Elf. Before long, the stupefied secretary stands before the mysterious Tribunal!
