CATWOMAN (1989) (#1-4) (DC MINI SERIES) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Catwoman (1989) #1
Premiere issue. "Part 1- Metamorphosis" Guest-starring the Batman and Wildcat. Selina Kyle's origin as Catwoman is retold and modernized with a tragic new twist in this dynamite tale from writer Mindy Newell and artists J.J. Birch and Michael Bair. A beautiful young prostitute is found beaten up in an alley by nuns from a nearby convent. At the hospital, she refuses to name her attacker to police but receives a cryptic offer from the investigating lieutenant who says she should train herself to never again be a victim.

However, Selina Kyle has been well within the clutches of her pimp Stan, a pasty-faced lech with the soul of a sewer rat. But finally when she's had enough, Selina takes the cop's advice and starts to train with former heavyweight champion Ted (Wildcat) Grant who teaches her to never give up and to find power within. Later, when Stan has her dress up as a cat in a leather outfit aimed at pleasing a particularly twisted John, Selina hits upon the idea of using the feline threads a means of getting back at Stan for all of his mistreatment!
