CAPTAIN MARVEL (1968) (#1-62) (MARVEL) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Captain Marvel (1968) #1
Premiere issue! The cosmic saga of Captain Marvel continues here after our hero's startling debut in the pages of Marvel Super-Heroes #12. Mar-Vell, the Kree officer, was sent to Earth, to Cape Canaveral, to monitor humans' progress in space travel. Assuming the guise of Walt Lawson, he finds he's become the object of Air Force security officer Carol Danvers' suspicions. And, back on his home ship, the villainous Col. Yon-Rogg has set him up to fail, and worse, to die out of jealousy over the affections of medical officer Una. Add a berserk Sentry robot on top of all this and you've got one heck of a start for a fledgling hero.

Armed with his marvelous Uni-beam wrist projector and his own Kree-born strength and training, Captain Marvel does his best to keep the Sentry from setting off atomic warheads, thereby destroying NASA's launch base and much of the surrounding Florida real estate. Overpowered and outgunned, it seems he has little chance of succeeding or surviving. To make things worse, with the aid of Jeremy Logan, Danvers is getting closer to unraveling Captain Marvel's secret and ending his mission. But that's the least of Captain Marvel's worries, if he can't stop the runaway robot. "Out of the Holocaust, a Hero" is written by Roy Thomas and drawn by Gene Colan.
