Local News - Free Presentation & Talk By STAR WARS Actors This Saturday At Jason St.

Howdy!

A few months ago, I happened to be driving on Park Ave. West, right where it crosses Broadway. The Denver Rescue Mission is located just one block further, and it is not at all unusual to see crowds of homeless people waiting in line for the hundreds of free meals that they provide each day. What made my journey past the Mission noteworthy that particular morning was the startling sight of a seemingly very scared little 5-year-old girl standing in that long line, clinging to what appeared to be her grandparents. The sight of that little girl waiting for a donated meal broke my heart, as we raised four beautiful daughters, and I can only imagine the deprivations that poor child must be suffering, through absolutely no fault of her own.

I made a vow that day that I would try to work it out during my one-year reign as Prince Royale 42 of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire to host at least one charity fundraiser for the Denver Rescue Mission. That opportunity suddenly materialized yesterday, when we received an unexpected e-mail from J. Trent Adams, one of two Denver-area fans who were incredibly blessed to be chosen as the winners of the STAR WARS: FORCE FOR CHANGE contest one year ago to be extras in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS! His e-mail asked if we could set up time when they could both come to our Jason St. location to give a 45-minute presentation on what it was like to be members of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS cast, and to share their experiences of what it was like attending the London world premiere of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS with movie director, JJ Abrams.

My response to this amazing e-mail was to alter the timing of our huge End-of-the Year Comics and Toy Auction, that we had already scheduled for this upcoming Saturday morning. We normally begin our exciting comics and toy auctions at 11:30 AM, but I am going to instead give that first hour over to J. Trent Adams and DC Barnes for their STAR WARS presentation and Q&A session . In addition, since they had asked if we could make their presentation a charitable event, I expanded upon that premise by donating 30+ of our vintage STAR WARS toys and memorabilia items to a special STAR WARS auction, with all proceeds from the STAR WARS portion of our auction going to help the homeless served by the Denver Rescue Mission.

Here is my new schedule for our special STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS event being held at Jason St. this Saturday morning:

11:30 AM - 12:15 PM J. Trent Adams and DC Barnes Speak
12:15 PM - 12:30 PM Q&A Session About The Making Of The Movie
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM Auction Of STAR WARS Toys And Memorabilia
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Huge End-Of-The-Year Comics and Toy Auction

To be very clear, our special STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS event is completely free, and will be set up to be very welcoming to children. We will gently request small donations of cash and/or STAR WARS items to add to the benefit portion of our auction, but that is entirely voluntary. In the end, our only goal in hosting this cool event is to create a very positive and fun day for all the STAR WARS fans of Denver, while also seeking to help some people in need at the same time. Please do join us this Saturday morning for this unique STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS event, and bring your entire family. Free refreshments will be served!

Happy Collecting!
