After Christmas Sale, Plus Colorado Blvd. Store Merging Into Jason St. Howdy! I want to begin today with a sincere "Thank You!" from all of us here at Mile High Comics. Our 2018 holiday season has been especially blessed, both online, and through our Denver area retail shops. This has taken a great deal of worry out of our lives, and for that we are sincerely grateful. We send you our very best wishes that holiday joy finds you, as well. Front of the Glendale store As regards news, the biggest change that is upcoming is the imminent closure on December 31st of our store on Colorado Blvd. after 28 years of operation in Glendale (Colorado). When we first opened our store we had inexpensive rent, abundant parking, a really nice landlord, and the huge Celebrity Sports Center right across the parking lot. All of that changed, beginning with the demolition of that wonderful amusement complex filled with swimming pools, waterslides, and bowling alleys (originally built by a partnership of Walt Disney, Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, and a dozen other Hollywood investors), in 1994. Parking is now nonexistent, we have a new landlord, and our rent has gone up 350%! Sadly, it is time to go. Inside the Glendale store The good news about our departure from Colorado Blvd. is that our huge Jason St. Mega-Store will now become even better. We have so much room in that immense 65,000 square foot building (which we own...) that pretty much all of the Colorado Blvd. fixtures and inventory can seamlessly merge into our existing display areas. I will rent a big truck on Wednesday, and start hauling out the comic book bins and the back stock comics. The store itself will remain open through next Saturday, then close on Sunday and Monday so that we can haul out all of the showcases and bookshelves. Clearly, my next week is going to be very busy... Inside the Glendale store Circling back to my earlier "Thank You!," I especially want to give thanks to all of our loyal fans who have supported our Colorado Blvd. store over these past 28 years. Selling paper publications today in a world dominated by digital entertainment is incredibly difficult, but we were able to keep the store going for nearly three decades precisely because of the kindness of those who shopped with us each week. I am sorry that circumstances beyond our control ultimately forced us to close, but that was most certainly not because we did not have some the very best comics fans in the world as our loyal clients.
