Mile High Comics Staff Photos at Feeding Denver's Hungry Event

Howdy!

I am still recovering this afternoon from a great experience yesterday in leading our Mile High Comics executive team in helping distribute food, warm clothing, and personal toiletries to the elderly, disabled, and indigent people served by "Feeding Denver's Hungry." Despite having worked hundreds of hours on auctions and other efforts to help raise money for FDH, Will, Pam, Lynne, and Lisa had never before actually worked on the streets with us.

By the time our event ended at 1 PM, I think that they got quite an eyeful. Yesterday's warmer weather prompted a huge 3-block long line to form before we even began, with that line continuing to grow unabated for over 3 hours. By the time that we were done serving, we were completely out every bit of the 12,000 lbs of food that we picked up at the Food Bank of the Rockies on Wednesday, and also many of the clothes and toiletries. It was a truly fantastic day, but also quite mentally and physically exhausting. The best part is that we helped at least 1,000 people yesterday, and probably quite a few more. It was a truly wonderful way for us to celebrate the holidays.

Mile High Comics gift certificate

Before I leave the topic of "Feeding Denver's Hungry," I wanted to sincerely thank all of you who purchased gift certificates from us this week. All of the money from your gift certificate purchase went into a fund that allowed me to buy those huge quantities of clothing and personal toiletries for those in need here in Denver. That having been said, I do still have a small shortfall in funds to buy all of what is needed to help my friend Twotone Grant of "A Light In the Night" in Albuquerque. If just a dozen more people were to order $25 gift certificates this weekend, I would be able to help Twotone just as much as I helped here in Denver. Please help, if you can. Thank you...

Coat and Jacket Drive Flyer

Finally, if you live here in Colorado, I invite you to visit TRADE on Santa Fe Drive on Saturday afternoon as I will be making a personal appearance as Bettie Pages to help with serving at a coat and jacket drive for "Feeding Denver's Hungry." Free beer, good karma, and lots of awesome Christmas cheer!

I will close with a quick reminder that our annual holiday codeword is the 60% off NANETTE sale, named after my beloved wife of 43 years. The 60% off NANETTE discount applies to all ten million of our back issue comics and magazines, excepting only new issues, a few variants, and our professionally-graded comics. Please do enjoy these unbelievably generous savings on all of our very best comics with our sincere thanks for all of your kindness and support.

Happy collecting!
