Local News - Benefit Comics Poker Tournament This Saturday At Jason St.
Howdy!
It is now only two days until our exciting
Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament at our
Jason St. Mega-Store!
Participation has been growing steadily ever since I sent out
my special offer on Tuesday, which lets anyone who preregisters for the tournament
instantly receive their $25 entry fee back as a Mile High Comics gift certificate.
All entry fees will then be immediately donated to
The Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire,
a Denver-area 501-C3 charitable organization of which I am an officer. The ICRME
will then pass on the majority of the entry fees to Rainbow Alley, to help dozens
of young people have a better holiday season.
So you know, in my role of Prince Royale of the
ICRME, I have picked
RAINBOW ALLEY
as my personal charity to support during 2015.
RAINBOW ALLEY helps GLBTQ kids who
find themselves homeless, or socially ostracized, in the Denver area. I have
personally visited their facilities on East Colfax, and have also been blessed to
meet some of the Rainbow Alley kids. I can assure you that Rainbow Alley is a wonderful
Denver civic organization that helps many well-deserving young people who are often
in desperate need. That is precisely why
Mile High Comics is donating $500 in gift
certificates ($250 First Place, $100 Second, $50 each @ 3rd-5th) as the prizes for the
tournament. If you enjoy playing poker in a pleasant atmosphere with really nice
people, you should come by
Jason St. Mega-Store
at 11 AM on Saturday, and play poker with us.
We would love to have you join us...
In other news, the selection of cool collector's items that we will be offering at
no-minimum-bid during the special Holiday auction that we will be hosting a week
from Saturday (December 12th), is growing very rapidly. I had already committed over
30 books from my own reference library to this auction, and I have now increased
that at number to over sixty volumes. At the same time, our head statue buyer at
Jason St. Mega-Store,
Lisa Woolley, just finished an inventory audit of her stock, and discovered
she had 30 duplicate statues that she was willing to contribute to the auction. With
even more cool auction items being selected every day, this auction will probably
be our very best, ever!
To be clear, all of these extra items that we are adding into the auction are in
addition! to the 500+ Golden age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, and Modern comics variants
that Will Moulton had already chosen to offer you as the core items of our event. We
do not yet have photos of the 500+ main items, but included with this newsletter
you will find more photos of books from my reference library, and Lisa's statues.
Please do mark your calendar and save December 12th as the date for our auction.
Not only will there be great bargains for your own collection, but you can probably
pick up some excellent gifts, too!
Happy collecting!
