Local News 50%-60% Off Books and Comics - Moving Auction On Saturday
Howdy!
The past week has been a blur of excitement here at
Mile High Comics. Our announcement
early last week that we were going to consolidate our online operations into our huge
Jason St. Mega-Store
building set off a firestorm of unexpected media attention. Little
did I know that when I attributed our decision to consolidate to pot growers fueling a
rapid market appreciation in Denver-area industrial properties that our decision would
attract so much media interest. Life can be very strange...
While the news media's reports contributed to this past week being very crazy, the real
catalyst was my decision to put into effect the largest
book and
comics sale in our
46-year history. Ever since I announced that all of our
trade paperbacks and graphic novels
were on sale at 60% off (along with all of our
hardback collections and
back issue comics at half price),
we have been swamped with business, both
online, and at all three of our
retail stores.
That outpouring of support from everyone is very much appreciated, as it will help us a
great deal in covering the considerable funding needs of the move of our huge online
inventory (and offices) into Jason St. Thank you!
As regards where we are today, I want to mention first that we are NOT closing our
Mega-Store.
No matter how clearly I tried to express that point in my numerous
interviews, that incorrect impression somehow remained in the minds of some folks.
The reality is that we are going to be moving all six million of our online
back issue comics and magazines
into Jason St. over the next five months, thus
making them immediately available for shoppers at the store. This is something
that I have wanted to do for years, but have just not had the time, energy, or
money to accomplish. Not only will this consolidation be great for our visitors,
but it will also save us the $10,000 in operating costs we were accruing keeping
56th Ave. open. This move will be a pain in the tush, but it really is a win-win
for everyone!
I do also want to make clear that our huge sale on our book and
comics is
still in effect for you, at least through this upcoming weekend. The revenues
we have generated to this point will cover at least half of our moving costs,
but I am not letting up until I feel that we are completely covered. Then I can
start renting trucks and hiring temporary workers...
Finally, I did want everyone to know that we will be hosting the first of our
moving auctions this weekend. We typically have our first
Jason St. Mega-Store
Christmas gift and toy auction about this time of year, so that will (indeed)
be the primary focus of Saturday's auction. In addition, however, I also plan
to bring in at least 200 extra collectibles that have been secreted away on
hidden shelves in our 56th Ave. building for many years. Now that we're moving,
everything must go, so I am making this auction especially diverse and generous.
Bring the entire family on Saturday, as there will be fun items for everyone!
The auction will begin at 11:30 AM, with free refreshments and Christmas cookies
for all...
Happy collecting!

P.S. Below are some of the traditional auction lots for Saturday's event.
As you can see, there will be plenty of comics in the auction, including
some very nice variants and Silver Age issues. Visit our
Mile High Comics FaceBook page
to see all
50 of the main auction lots.
I will try to have
photos of some of my added collectibles for you for in Thursday's local
newsletter.
