Local News - Stan Lee Photo plus DEADPOOL and STAR WARS Variants Howdy! Marvel Comics founder, Stan Lee, just walked past our booth here in the Los Angeles Convention Center! Actually, Stan's being here is no surprise, as he actually is one of the founders of ComiKazi, the show that we are attending this weekend. That having been said, it is still really nice to see Stan looking so healthy and enthusiastic,. He was autographing huge stacks of posters at the rate of one every few seconds, which is pretty amazing output at the age of 92... Stan Lee While we are spending this weekend in Los Angeles, our three stores will all be passing out free copies of the 2015 Halloween ComicFest variant editions, including the highly collectible new HARLEY QUINN edition. Everyone qualifies for three free Halloween ComicFest editions at each of our stores that they visit on Saturday, plus one more for each $5 spent on merchandise. Ocean of Comics In other news, our amazingly enthusiastic Jason St. team member, Jeff, has made it a special project of his to comprehensively restock the wonderful "Ocean of Comics" at our Jason St. Mega-Store. Jeff works Tuesday - Saturday, and is available to help anyone locate scarce back issues in our restricted sorting area. Jeff definitely knows where the good stuff is hiding! Golden Age/Silver Age area At the same time as Jeff is working on the "Ocean", Lisa Woolley has put her incredible knowledge of older comics to excellent use by completely reorganizing our Jason St. stock of Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age comics. She was finishing up the Independent titles "N" titles on Thursday, and promised me that she would have the entire Gold, Silver, and Bronze area finished over the next three weeks. Then she will focus on addressing and pricing the 5,000+ older comics that we have been holding in reserve. Speaking of older comics, did you know that the radical price decreases that we put into effect on our website back issues in April also apply in our three retail stores? We have been gradually switching the prices over at Jason St., discounting all of our new arrivals with brand new blue pricing stickers. This is such a huge project, however, that we encourage everyone to bring selections of comics that do not have blue stockers up to the counter for immediate repricing. About 95% of our comics decline in cost when repriced... DEADPOOL (2015) #1 MHC Variant Star Wars #11 MHC Variant Secret Wars #7 VADER DOWN #1 MHC Variant My only other topic for today is a quick reminder that you can still sign up to receive your own copies of our exclusive Mile High Comics variant editions of DEADPOOL (2015) #1, STAR WARS (2015) #11, SECRET WARS #7, and VADER DOWN #1. All of these variants will be shipping quite soon, however, and our price for each rises by $5 on day of release. The DEADPOOL #1 is certain to be especially desirable when that insane movie releases in February.
