MHC Local News - Poker Tournament - Upcoming Auction -Lower Comics Prices
Howdy!
Only four days remain for you to sign up to play in our
3rd bi-monthly Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament.
The game will be played this Saturday morning,
starting at 11 AM, at our
Jason St. Mega-Store.
Everyone is invited to play
in this fun game, with the winner receiving a $1,000 donated shopping spree
at Mile High Comics!
Winners of Last Tournament
So you know, Mile High Comics donated the five gift certificate prizes ($1,000,
$250, and 3 X $100) to this game as a part of our continuing effort to help
those in need in our community. The proceeds from this Saturday's game will
go to buy warm clothing and personal toiletries for Denver's homeless teens
who are served by the wonderful volunteers of Urban Peak.. Your cost to play
in the game is only $25, with 100% of that amount being donated. With our
first cold and rain of the season predicted to arrive this weekend, the timing
of your donation could not be better to help some kids in need...
To register for this Saturday's poker game, visit any Mile High Comics location
this week, and drop off your registration fee. Our staff will then send me an
e-mail, and I will personally register you for the game. You can also write to
me directly, at chuckrozanski@gmail.com. Finally, you can also register at
Jason St.
on the morning of the game. Please bear in mind, however, that we
can only seat 64 players, and our last couple of games have had an average
40-50 participants. To be certain that you have a chair reserved at one of
our eight tables, I encourage you to preregister.

In other news, we will be hosting another of our benefit auctions a week from
Saturday. We will begin setting this auction up on Saturday afternoon (after
poker tournament ends...), and should have everything in place by Tuesday.
Our auction will contain 50 lots of 8 items each for Mile High Comics, and
then another 50 individual items being sold to benefit
Rainbow Alley, a refuge
for GLBTQ kids who are being bullied, or who have been forced to leave home
after they come out to their parents. Christmas is coming, so we are trying
to raise a little money to help these young people who are living under
difficult circumstances. Donations of comics, toys, or any other collectibles
for the benefit portion of the Rainbow Alley auction will be gladly accepted.

I will close by mentioning that we have recently been auditing all of our back issues
at the Mile High Comics Jason St. Mega-Store. Aside from discovering a plethora of
Golden Age and Silver Age comics, we also have come to realize that a great many
of our sticker prices on our older issues in the store were never adjusted downward
after the major price decrease that we put into effect on our website last April.
Our inventory team is fixing that problem right now, with prices on quite a few
issues dropping by more than half (!) as a result. Visit Jason St this week, and
ask to see revised pricing on any of our Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age
titles. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
Happy collecting!
