SLC Comic-Con Report

Howdy!

I am delighted to report that all the news from the Salt Lake City Comic-Con is excellent! I cannot remember the last time that I have been in a gigantic convention center with so many enthusiastic fans. The typical situation we observe is that people attending big comics shows are so aggravated from lines and parking hassles, that by the time that they get to the dealer's room the stress is already evident in their demeanor. Here in Salt Lake City, however, we have well over 100,000 attendees, and darn near everyone I can see right now in this huge crowd is smiling and happy! My hat is off to Dan Farr, and his great wonderful team, for making this convention such an enjoyable experience for so many people.

Salt Lake City Comic-Con Crowds

As regards our own booth, we have been remarkably warmly received by the fans of Salt Lake City. They have been telling us that they genuinely appreciate the fact that we trucked our 16-ton traveling comics display across the mountains, and have rewarded us with exceptional patronage. One factor that has made me particularly happy is how many fans at the show have expressed appreciation at our newly lowered prices on most of our modern comics. It has taken us months of restickering to bring our convention prices in line with the across-the-board price decreases that we put into effect on our website last April, but that effort is now clearly bearing fruit. Coming to Salt Lake City has been a great experience!

I will close today's Salt Lake City update with a quick reminder that our end-of-the month 40% off SAVINGS! codeword sale on most of the back issue comics on our website will conclude at the end next week. In the meantime, however, the 40% off sale is still in effect for you on most of those cool Golden Age and Silver Age comics that Pam's annual audit turned up this week. Our New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links were updated this morning to reflect even more great comics, most of which Pam added just yesterday...

Happy Collecting!

P.S. Below are just a few of the tens of thousands of costumes on display here in Salt Lake City. We were told by a representative of the con that their official attendance figure for this weekend is at 135,000+, and still climbing! I know that sounds hard to believe in such a small market, but the number of large families here (with all their kids) is astounding...
