All Stores Comics and Book Sale
Ends Sunday

Howdy!

I want to begin today by offering you a special weekend deal on all of our comics trade paperbacks and hardback collections. Effective immediately, if you purchase any two books from us, you can choose a third of equal or lesser value, for free! This fun book sale is in effect in all 3 of our Denver-area retail stores, but will only be open for you through the end of business on Sunday. If you have been looking to add to your library at substantial price reductions, this weekend is a great opportunity for you to save.

To make your visit to your favorite Mile High Comics store even more attractive during this last weekend of September, I am putting a 50% off sale in effect on all of the back issue comics that we offer in our stores that are priced with yellow price stickers. Just mention the end-of-month comics sale at any of our retail stores, and our staff will ring up your comics for half price! Please do note, however, that our comics priced with blue stickers are not included in this sale, as most of them are already discounted.

Salt Lake City Comic-Con Booth

In other news, I will be flying to Salt Lake City at the crack of dawn tomorrow. I will be joining Will Moulton and the rest of our convention team at the Salt Lake City Comic-Con. The show began at mid-afternoon today in the huge Salt Palace convention center, and initial reports are that the crowd is as large as the Denver Comic-Con, which reportedly attracted 108,000 fans to this year's event. That high attendance makes me very happy, as we have been working especially hard to expand our traveling comics shop inventory by another 14,000 comics since it returned from San Diego.

I will close with three quick news bits. First, our benefit Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament will be held next Saturday morning (Oct. 3rd) at our Jason St. Mega-Store. Game begins at 11 AM, the buy-in is $25, and the winner receives a $1,000 shopping spree at Mile High Comics. Register in advance at any Mile High Comics location. This game is a benefit for Urban Peak, a group that helps homeless teens in the Denver area.

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

Second, we will be holding our next no-minimum-bid comics and toy auction at Jason Dt. on Saturday morning, October 10th. This auction will include 50 great lots from Mile High Comics, as well as a benefit component for Rainbow Alley, the organization that helps protect Denver's GLBTQ kids. We already have some original comics art committed to the Rainbow Alley portion of our auction, but could use about 40 more donated items. If you have any comics, books, toys, or other collectibles that no longer fit in your collection, the kids at Rainbow Alley would be very grateful for your donation. Christmas is coming...

Finally, we are looking to hire someone to help with packing Internet comics shipments at our main warehouse. Comics knowledge is not required for this position, but would certainly be a plus. To fill out an application, visit our main warehouse at 2151 W. 56th Ave. any weekday, and ask for Pam Brandle.

Happy Collecting!
