Chuck's 3-Minute TV News Interview on Comics Investing

Howdy!

I received some very good news yesterday afternoon, as the local TV news interview that I filmed in the morning about the last weekend's sale of ACTION COMICS #1 for $3,200,000 turned out far better than I expected. Going into that filming session, I had hoped that we could steer away from the typical Gosh! Wow! slant that is the norm when a story about a particularly high dollar comics sale is presented to the general public. Blessedly, Kevin, the reporter sent by 9NEWS was not only receptive to offering a broader perspective on comics values, but also ended up editing the piece brilliantly.

So you know, my personal perspective on comics values these days is that none of us really have a clue about what will be the next "hot" book. I cannot even begin to remember the number of times recently that we have had to rush to sort certain comics out of our Mega-Store $1 boxes because of their potential appearance in an upcoming movie. INFINITY WAR, INFINITY GAUNTLET, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, all THANOS and ANTMAN appearances, and SPAWN #9 immediately spring to mind, but the list is actually much larger. Suffice it to say, the astute fans who caught on before we did, and purchased quantities of those comics from us at only $1 each, made out like bandits...

In closing, one of the co-hosts of the show mentions at one point during the clip that buying old comics that are currently out of favor is actually a better way to get ahead, than buying lottery tickets. I had never actually thought of it in those terms, but I have to admit there is certainly some measure of truth in her observation.

Here is the link to the news clip. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this peek behind the curtains at Mile High Comics:
