Dark Knight, Deadpool
and Other Fan Favorites Return!

Greetings from the Batcave (Denver Location),

School has started and football is right around the corner so autumn is on the way. This usually means a slow time in comics after a summer filled with crossover events and blockbuster movies but this year, Fall is going to be everything but boring. Ever since DC introduced the New 52 in September a couple of years ago, this time of year has become a treasure chest for comic fans. This year, Marvel looks to reclaim it's House Of Ideas moniker with another month full of #1 issues. Buckle up, True Believers (I hope that's not copyrighted) because here we go!

Superman: American Alien

As you can see, there are a lot of #1's coming out in November. I am looking forward to the new Dark Knight III mini-series, written by Frank Miller and art by Andy Kubert. With the success of the first 2 volumes, regarded as 2 of the best Batman stories ever, this series looks like another big seller. This time, we see an aged Batman taking on the Master Race. Also, after 4 years of waiting, Batman: Europa mini-series is ready to start in November. Originally set to be a painted series by Jim Lee, issue #1 will have art by Jim Lee while the remaining issues will have art by "Surprise Guest Talents". If you had ordered it previously, your subscription will be honored. Superman: American Alien begins a new 7-issue mini-series that tells of Clark Kent and growing up with the powers of a Kryptonian. This series will have art by Jock, Jae Lee and other comic greats and will give a different look at the Man of Steel as a quiet, funny kid dealing with puberty in a much different way. For fans of the hit CW TV series, I, Zombie, DC is releasing an Omnibus collecting the entire 28 issue series. Vertigo has another bunch of new titles like Unfollow that shows what would happen when a dying billionaire promises to split his riches between 143 random people, or however many are left when he dies. It's about what you would do for a bigger piece of a pie.

All-New All-Different Avengers

Over at Marvel, the "Not a reboot" continues. November will see a return of favorites like Deadpool, All-New X-Men, Ms. Marvel, Hercules while 3 of the Guardians of the Galaxy get their own titles. The biggest new title has to be the All-New All-Different Avengers written by Mark Waid with art by Adam Kubert. With classic characters like Iron Man and Vision joined by new versions of old Avengers like Thor and Captain America, the addition of newbies like Nova, Ms. Marvel and Miles Morales the Ultimate Spider-Man will make for some great new stories. X-23 takes over the mantle of Wolverine in All-New Wolverine while father and son reunite in Nova. The Ultimate Universe also returns in Ultimates with a new line-up and Jane Foster continues to battle Asgardian enemies and cancer in Mighty Thor. For those that like a less serious take on the heroes, Howard the Duck will return with a new series and the Secret Wars Too one-shot look promising and funny. I am eagerly awaiting the Star Wars: Vader Down crossover that will run through the 2 main series and the Vader Down series and will have Mike Deodato handling some of the artistry chores. Deodato did the art to a Boba Fett story when Star Wars was at Dark Horse so it will be cool seeing him take on the other characters.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Speaking of Dark Horse, the new Call of Duty: Black Ops III series starts, based on the hot video game while the 150th issue of Usagi Yojimbo looks like a great jumping on point for new readers. Image has signed Mark Millar to write the new Huck series that sees a hero use his abilities to quietly help his neighbors but when the world finds out about him, everything changes. Millar himself has stated that it is the best story he has written so it will be something to check out. Ringside from Image will show the dirty underside to the spectators and fans of wrestling. IDW is bringing 007 to comics in the new James Bond series while Valiant is bringing back the Eternal Warrior in Wrath of the Eternal Warrior. For the kids, Titan has secured the rights to Wakfu, the on-line role playing game that has spawned cartoon series, video games, and other media and will be finally released in English.

We are still accepting pre-orders for the remaining Mile High Comics Variant Covers to Star Wars and Secret Wars. We have also started accepting pre-orders for the Mile High Comics Variant Covers to Deadpool #1 through #6. We are still waiting on the first art for it but with our past Deadpool Variant having art by Greg Horn, I can't wait to see them. With all of the buzz about the new Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds, the $19.95 price could make for a great investment.

James Bond

That should give everyone a little something to chew on for about a month. If you have any questions, please give Mario or myself a call or you can e-mail me at nice@milehighcomics.com.
