Half Price Comics - Ten Million Back Issues

Howdy!

Friday was one of our biggest International shipping days, ever. We had so many International packages waiting for the driver to pick up that he had to take one full load away to their warehouse by the airport, and then return for a second full load. I checked out International holding shelves after he left the second time, and saw just two orders remaining, both of which only needed a single comic to be transferred in from our storage facility in Boulder. Once those last two orders ship, our International backlog is entirely resolved.

International shipping shelves

At the same time as we have caught up on all International shipments, our deliveries to Domestic locations are also running like clockwork. I did not make a big deal out of it while we were moving, but I viewed our closing of 56th Ave. Internet fulfillment center as a golden opportunity to completely reorganize our inventory and operational systems. It took a while for the changes which I was seeking to have positive effect, but simply straightening out our inventory files (for example) into clean, linear rows has cut the manpower needed for us to fill any given comics order by half. That makes our task of keeping up with large volumes of newly-placed orders far easier...

As regards our pace of new orders, we have seen a steady uptick in demand over the past three weeks, with a significant surge over the last couple of days. Aside from our now providing very rapid turnaround of orders, we also have benefitted greatly from Pam's inventory crew now having the time to sort and grade thousands of comics each day. As Pam has been adding these hand-selected back issues into our website comics inventory, we are seeing almost immediate positive response. So you know, our primary inventory team is currently sorting comics that begin with the letter "S" while comics who's titles begin with the letters "P" and "R" are being graded and entered.

Marvel Comics New-In-Stock
DC Comics New-IN-Stock
Dark Horse Comics New-In-Stock
Image Comics New-In-Stock

To see a clear illustration of how many comics that we are now adding each day, check out our "View All Independents" link from June 11th. On just that one day, Pam's team added over 1,300 individual comics, including a slew of POIZON, POKEMON, POISON ELVES, RALPH SNART, RAI, and RANMA 1/2, and other "P" and "R" issues. At least another 3,000 "R" titles are awaiting grading, while there are simultaneously over 70,000! unsorted singles (200+ full long boxes) awaiting processing that begin with the letter "S." Now that we're completely current on shipping, we can finally shift manpower into making those comics available for you.

One thought that may well have crossed your mind after reading the above is that none of the titles that I've highlighted today are ones that you collect. I clearly understand that reaction, but I have been sorting comics for 46 years, and I can assure you that having a system in place that efficiently munches through ALL the comics titles ever created is the only way to nurture and sustain an inventory of comics as immense as what we offer. Simply put, we have had inventory managers in the past who have chosen to sort only our most popular titles, and that has never, ever, worked out well.

CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED (1942) #5

All of the above having been said, I do want you to know that we are also sorting and grading a separate system of Silver Age, Bronze Age, and Copper Age comics right now, with a substantial tilt toward older Marvel and DC titles. That entire system consists of about 20,000 comics, and Pam is just now grading and entering "C." That's precisely why you will see all of those nice "CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED" issues in Friday's New-In-Stock link, and why there will be a slew of CONAN back issues in tomorrow's New-In-Stock. Our restocking efforts can be viewed as sometimes being slow and methodical, but they are definitely already having an extremely positive effect on our daily listings. With 1,000+ new additions per upload, our website comics inventory is growing stronger and more diverse for you by the day!

CONAN #36

Before I go, I did want to mention that our 50% off HALFPRICE! Codeword sale is still in effect for you on all ten million of our back issue comics and magazines, excluding only new issues, CGC's, and a few of our variants. Almost all of the comics featured in New-In-Stock ARE available via HALFPRICE!, however, so there are some excellent bargains available to you today.

Happy collecting!
