LOCAL NEWS - GOTHAM Artist Matt Haley Appearing At Mile High Comics

Howdy!

I have some wonderful news for you this morning from Mile High Comics. After months of extremely strenuous effort, I am thrilled to be able to let you know that we are completely caught up with the backlog of website orders that resulted from our recent consolidation of our website division into the back of our Jason St. Mega-Store. We are at the point now where website orders for comics and books received overnight have an excellent prospect of being shipped that very same day. Suffice it to say, this is a milestone event that all of us who work at Mile High Comics have been seeking for a very long time.

While our being caught up with our online efforts is nice for us, I am sure that you are wondering why I think that this milestone has any positive benefit for you. Well, it all goes back to a dream of mine to be able to create a single immense facility where comics fans could have instant access to our entire online inventory. Previously, we allowed orders to be placed for comics to be delivered to our stores, but a misguided policy that was in place for many years put those store orders to the end of the order line. As a result, a simple order for just one back issue comic could sometimes take weeks to be delivered to the store, depending entirely on how current the shipping of website orders was at the time that the store order was placed.

When I discovered that this was happening, I changed our system to prioritize requests made by our clients who shopped at our retail stores. Even after my intervention, however, our system of fulfilling requests from our retail store patrons remained clunky, at best. When I discovered that was the case, I decided that the only way to get store orders delivered with lightening speed was to simply eliminate our entire shipping backlog. The disruptions caused by our moving out of 56th Ave. made my goal a little more difficult to achieve, but after seven weeks of concerted effort, we finally made it! I cannot even begin to express to you how happy this has made me.

Where this leaves us is that those of you who shop at our Lakewood and Glendale stores can now place an order for back issues and/or books from our website, and it will be delivered to you within just a couple of days, at most. The only inhibitor to our speed of delivery to you at this point is if someone working at your store happens to be stopping by Jason St. that morning. As for those of you who visit Jason St., if you place a website order with us one day, it should be available for you at the front counter by the next afternoon.

If you want even faster speed, stop by the special orders counter that we are building in the back of Jason this weekend, and we will instantly fill your order for you. We tested this program on Free Comic Book Day, and it worked quite well. After five years of planning, my dream of providing instant access to our entire website inventory is finally coming true. I think you are going to really like this awesome improvement to our service!

Moving on to another topic, I did want to also mention that we are continuing to work on our Denver Comic Con Pre-Party. It will be held next Thursday, June 16th, from 5-9 PM. We will have about 25 comics creators signing autographs, a wonderful free wrestling exhibition by the pros from New Era Wrestling, a White Rose bake sale, and many other fun events that are still in the planning stages.

As an aside, if you might be able to bring a small quantity of baked goods that evening for the White Rose Scholarship Fund bake sale, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. MATT HALEY

P.S. GOTHAM artist, Matt Haley, is one of our special guests at our party. I can't wait to chat with him, as he was the art director on COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN'S HOPE, the epic Morgan Spurlock documentary about San Diego Comic-Con. I was blessed to be one of the lead characters in that film, so I am curious to hear his take on the hundreds of scenes which we shot that didn't make it into the final cut. Matt is also an excellent artist, having worked on GHOST for Dark Horse as well as several BATMAN Elseworlds books for DC. Visit his website to view a sampling of his great comics work:
