LOCAL NEWS - Nine Days Until Our Denver Comic Con Party!

Howdy!

This is the first of what is planned to be a flurry of newsletters about our 2016 Denver Comic Con Pre-Party. It will be held a week from Thursday at our Jason St. Mega-Store, 4600 Jason St. The party will begin officially at 5 PM, and will run until 9 PM. Refreshments will be served.

The great news about our party is that my daughter, Rowan, has been helping us enormously by contacting large numbers of comics creators and asking them to exhibit at our party. Rowan has already compiled a tentative list, but even more creators who are flying in for the con have told us that they plan to attend if they can get their own booths set up at the show that afternoon. Those creators are not yet on the confirmed list, but may be added over the next couple of days.

In addition to the comics creators who will be signing autographs and selling artwork, we will also have a special pro wresting exhibition put on by the talented folks from New Era Wrestling. The wresting ring will be set near the loading docks, where our convention display typically resides. Our booth will be off to the convention that day, so there will be plenty of room for us to set up a full size ring. The New Era guys are loads of fun to watch, so be sure and bring the kids to see this awesome free wresting exhibition.

One question that I have been asked is whether we will be putting on an ICRME Cosplay drag show this year as a part of our party. Unfortunately, we cannot. Our main performance stage is still surrounded by numerous huge pallets filled with misc. from 56th Ave., and the area that we typically use for a dressing room out on the loading docks is similarly congested. That makes putting on a show impossible for right now. What we ARE planning, however, is for a special Cosplay drag show at the end of the summer featuring the talents of some of the young people who are part of the Rainbow Alley community. This will be an all-ages show, and will most likely be held on a Saturday afternoon in August, or early September. I'll keep you posted as this fun project evolves.

In the meantime, we will still try to raise a little money for the ICRME White Rose Scholarship fund during our Comic Con Pre-Party by asking for small donations at the door, operating a bake sale for White Rose, and having a silent auction. I'll donate some really nice items for the auction, as I know that the scholarship fund helps about a dozen young people to remain in school each year who most likely would otherwise have to drop out. I've attended the White Rose presentation of scholarship awards, and I can assure you that it helps those in need. Please mark Thursday, June 16th on your calendar, and come to our party. it should be a lot of fun!

Happy Collecting!
