Comic-Con Baked Good Donations Needed On Friday

Howdy!

It is now only 3 DAYS (!) until our huge Opening Night Party for the 2015 Denver Comic-Con! I mention this fact because I am, once again, quite concerned about donations to our benefit bake sale. We are expecting more than the 3,000 fans who attended our party last year to show up on Friday night, and so far we have only about half a dozen confirmed bake sale contributions. Clearly, those few contributions would make for a very brief sale...

That having been said, we had over 50 wonderful people who donated baked goods on the day of our show last year, so I am still optimistic that we will have some generous folks contributing on Friday. All the proceeds from this year's bake sale go to the White Rose Scholarship Fund, a special part of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire that provides need-based scholarships to students of all affiliations throughout the Northern Colorado area. A typical scholarship grant from White Rose is $1,000 - $1,500, and comes with no strings attached, and no repayment requirement. Several people I know have received these grants, and they have been very, very helpful. I will be posting applications for next year's grants in this newsletter, in December.

So you know, the entire White Rose Board Of Directors will be pitching in to help run Friday's bake sale. That being the case, I am sincerely hoping that those of you who can bake will bring a contribution with you on Friday. For those of you who cannot bake, we will be asking for small donations for White Rose at the door. Any contribution that you could make would be most appreciated. If you can, please send a brief e-mail about what you might donate to our ICRME Emperor, Richard Brendlinger, at fatherofzeus@gmail.com.

I will close today's newsletter by quickly mentioning that each of our store locations has a few tickets left for our Thursday night private party with actor, Lou Ferrigno. Attendees of Thursday night's special event will also be treated to a full dress rehearsal of our Friday night Cosplay show, and a very special comedy number created exclusively for Lou by the world-famous comedy drag group, The Denver Cycle Sluts. The Sluts specialize in raunchy humor, so their special performance for Lou will NOT be a part of Friday night's family-friendly Cosplay show. If you've never been to a Cycle Sluts event, you really should come to our Thursday night show. They are hilarious!

Happy Collecting!
