Comics Auction Saturday and Denver Comic-Con Party News Howdy! We are going to host an absolutely excellent auction this Saturday morning at our Jason St. Mega-Store featuring hundreds of rare comics, toys, statues, prints, and much more. All will be sold with no minimum bid. Our auction begins with preliminary items at 11:30 AM, and should be completed by about 1:30. Check out our many photos of our auction items on our Mile High Comics Facebook page, and I think that you will agree that we have a great selection this time. All auction items are also available right now for for your inspection in the Jason auction area. LOT #25 LOT #26 Aside from working on Saturday's auction, I have been directly involved in resolving our computer difficulties of last week. As you may have already read in the national newsletter that I wrote yesterday, I had to fly our machines to the offices of our hardware techs in Michigan, where a key circuit board in our primary machine caught on fire during testing. Once that melted board was replaced, our system came right back up. We reinstalled all of our data yesterday, and are now right back on track. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced while we tried to figure out what was causing our computer problem. Now that our computer difficulties are resolved, I am back to planning for our June 12th opening night party for the Denver Comic-Con. This year's party should be even bigger than the previous two years, with far more creators signing autographs. That is because this year's Denver Comic-Con has expanded to three days, which means that almost all of the creator guests will already be checked into their hotels when our party begins. We are running a free bus service for them from those downtown hotels, so we expect quite a crowd of comics creators, film, and television personalities to appear at our free party. Neal Adams, Lou Ferrigno, and Tone Rodriguez are already committed to our event, but they are just the tip of the iceberg. We are setting up tables for a minimum of 60 creators! We also teamed up with Denver Comic Con to create two Mile High/Denver Comic Con exclusive covers that will debut at our Pre-Party. You can pre-order them from N.I.C.E. now to make sure you get a copy before they sell out! (They will not ship until after Denver Comic is over.) Limit 5 copies of each cover per person. DEADPOOL #30 MHC/DCC cover VAMPIRELLA (2014) #1 MHC/DCC cover Another event that we will be hosting that same evening will be an all-ages Cosplay-themed drag show that will be presented by the talented performers of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. This show will be a benefit performance for the Denver Children's Advocacy Center, a safe house for local children who have been victims of sexual abuse. The show will take place on a specially-constructed stage that we are building in the trade paperback area of the Jason St. Mega-Store. If all goes at planned we will be offering cafe seating for about 150 viewers. Admission to the show is completely free, but tipping of $1 per performer is suggested. I do want to mention that this Cosplay drag show came about directly because of the outpouring of support that we received during the recent ICRME election. Thanks to you, newly elected ICRME Emperor, Caeri Mancini, is making me a part of his Imperial Family. Once I have received my title this Sunday, one of my responsibilities will be to personally host an ICRME show sometime during the twelve months of Caeri's reign. Rather than hosting a show for Mile High Comics supporters at some local club (as I promised during the election), I decided that I would make things much easier for everyone by creating a superhero/fantasy/manga event, and then putting it on right in our Mega-Store.
