FREE COMICS Codeword Sale Begins Today Howdy! I spent most of this past weekend working at our Jason St. Mega-Store. The goal of my endeavors was to begin a massive cleanup and rebuilding of the store in anticipation of this year's Free Comic Book Day celebrations, which will be held on May 6th. FCBD is typically our busiest day of the year, with 2,000+ fans visiting the Mega-Store on that single day. Given that VENOM artist, Sam De La Rosa, is appearing in the store that day to sign autographs, we anticipate an even fuller house than usual. While having the core elements of our store reorganized for FCBD is certainly important, the key issue for most fans are the FCBD variants, themselves. As I have related in several past newsletters, we really stocked up in anticipation of this year's event, as it is a benefit for "Feeding Denver's Hungry." We went out on a limb, and ordered 150 full sets of the 52 standard 2017 FCBD variants, and also published our own FCBD WONDER WOMAN edition and FCBD DC SUPERHERO GIRLS edition. The advance orders that we allowed on those FCBD sets (in exchange for a $40 donation to "Feeding Denver's Hungry") have been remarkably successful, with over 100 sets already committed to fans all around the world who have chosen to donate to "Feeding Denver's Hungry." Thank you! FCBD 2017 WONDER WOMAN Mile High Exclusive As regards our single copies of this year's FCBD editions, we have already run into a problem, as DIAMOND DISTRIBUTING shorted the Mega-Store on one entire FCBD title. When we asked them to correct their error, they told us that they were totally sold out, and could not help us. That really bites, as DIAMOND is a monopoly, and currently has no checks and balances on their failures to deliver goods as promised. We'll compensate for their failure by shifting over some copies of that one title that we had ordered for our online distribution, but suffice it to say that I am a bit peeved. FCBD 2017 DC SUPERHERO GIRLS Mile High Exclusive I did also want to let you know that we are already receiving requests from other comics retailers to help them out with stock on this year's FCBD variants. I could be wrong, but it appears that some retailers did not order anywhere as many copies as they needed. If that turns out to be the case, I can almost guarantee you that spot shortages will develop on some titles. Just saying...
