Neil Gaiman Moves ANGELA To Marvel
Jason St. Silver Age Comics Auction This Saturday

Howdy!

Today is one of those good news, bad news day. The bad news is that, once again, snow is predicted for Saturday. Really? I postpone our monthly auction event at Jason St. by two weeks because of our previous snowstorm, and now we have yet another snowstorm predicted on our make-up date? This wacky spring weather just drives me crazy...

Whatever the case may be, weather is something that we have to just deal with, so my plan is to go forward on Saturday with our monthly no-minimu-bid comics auction. My decision would only have to change if the snow is particularly bad, or peaks right at the same time (11:30 AM) that the auction is scheduled to begin. Blessedly, while Saturday is predicted to be somewhat snowy, this snow event is supposedly much less than what we had two weeks ago. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it all just blows over...

Presuming that you do decide to join us at Jason St. on Saturday morning, we will have a really nice batch of free refreshments available for you, including a lot of hot coffee. This particular auction is also filled with very desirable back issues (including variant covers, Silver Age, and Bronze Age comics) and has been receiving quite positive feedback from all who have participated in the Jason St. advance viewing. If you have any doubts about whether the auction is going forward, please call the Jason St. store on Saturday morning (after 10 AM) at 303-477-0042.

Aside from creating our new auction, we have also made some major changes in Jason St. over this past month, including moving back the walls to add room for our prospective art gallery area, and also moving all of our $1 comics in order to make room for our huge new bookstore. Over 50 new magazine and book shelves have been added, so the Mega-Store looks quite a bit different.

In other news, the comics world was rocked today by word that, after having successfully litigated to regain his creator rights, Neil Gaiman has chosen to move his very sexy ANGELA character from Image Comics, over to Marvel. ANGELA will first appear in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2013) #5, releasing right about same the time of this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Suffice it to say, we have already sent a letter of intent to Marvel, asking to publish an exclusive Mile High Comics variant edition of this historic release. They have already responded positively, but made clear that since this is such a surprise to everyone at Marvel, that details still need to be worked out. They did say, however, that we were #1 on the list!

On a very closely related topic, our exclusive Mile High Comics variant edition of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1 will be releasing next Wednesday. We are still accepting pre-orders on this issue at all of our retail stores at only $6 each, but only through closing this Sunday. Once Monday rolls around, our copies of this highly promoted new title from Marvel will need to rise to $9.95. Please do place your preorder on this book right away, as our advance sales on this title are the highest of any Mile High Comics exclusive edition in our history, exceeding even our pre-sales of our SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1 and WOLVERINE (2013) #1 variants.

Guardians #1 Mile High

So you know, even though GUARDIANS has been a seemingly unimportant title in the past, Marvel has made it clear that they intend for this book to be the beginning of a huge storyline that will run in the Marvel Universe all through the remainder of 2013, and well into 2014. It is also rumored that Rocket Raccoon, one of the main characters in the GUARDIANS, is about to be heavily marketed in a worldwide campaign by Marvel's new corporate parent, the Walt Disney Company. I leave it to your imagination as to what that all means...

I will close today's newsletter by mentioning that our Wednesday Night Magic tournaments at our Jason St. Mega-Store are beginning to gain some nice traction, with new players joining each week. If you would like to have fun with other Magic players in a very relaxed and welcoming environment, just stop by Jason St. on any Wednesday evening, beginning at 6 PM. Randy will help you to get signed up, and will introduce you to all the other players.

Happy Collecting!
