60% Off MOVINGDAY Sale - Comics and Books

Howdy!

The saga of our sale of our 56th Ave. headquarters building continues. Yesterday afternoon at 5 PM was the deadline for us to sign the "final" agreement, after which the buyer of our building was (at least theoretically...) supposed to be bound to go through with the purchase. Not surprisingly, however, the legion of electricians, plumbers, roofers, building inspectors, engineers, and surveyors that the buyer had visit us during the past six weeks provided him with enough dubious claims of deficiencies that he completely backtracked, reducing his original offer to us by a whopping $277,000.00.

My Realtor's reaction to the buyer's exaggerated claims was to urge me to immediately cancel the deal. He told me that he had two other groups very eager to purchase our building at full value, and that we had no reason to negotiate. What occurred to me, however, was that there was no guarantee that either of these other two groups that he had waiting in the wings would not also nickel-and-dime us during inspections. So, despite having severe misgivings, I insisted that we enter into negotiations to try and find a middle ground. Long story short, we signed off yesterday on a blanket $100,000 adjustment to the purchase price to cover all perceived shortcomings of our building.

All of the above having been said, this is the point at which I have to force myself to be pragmatic, and to give away some more of my precious comics. Simply put, the $100,000 that I rebated to the buyer yesterday was the entire amount that would have been left over from the building sale after our bank receives their money. With the prodigious costs of moving six million comics coming due over the next seven weeks, I have no other option but to immediately put into effect one last 60% off sale, not only on all of our back issue comics and magazines, but also on all of our backlist graphic novels and trade paperbacks.

Beginning right now, you can use the 60% off MOVINGDAY! codeword to purchase darn near any of our ten million back issue comics and magazines listed on our website. This includes all of our back issue Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Valiant, Disney, and Independent comics, as well as all of our Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, and modern back issues. Only new comics, a few variants, and our CGC-graded issues are excluded. Most comics listed in today's New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links ARE included.

As regards our books, we have over 200,000 graphic novels and trade paperbacks that we are putting on sale for you today at 60% off, and about 50,000 hardbacks that will be priced at 50% off. These prices are reduced for you right on our website, so no codeword is needed. This is your chance to purchase books for your library at close to our dealer wholesale price, and sometimes even below wholesale.

A couple of closing thoughts about my new 60% off sale. First, please be aware that you may have to wait a week, or two, for your order to ship. This is typically a slower time of year, but 60% off is such a crazy generous discount that we still expect a large influx in MOVINGDAY! orders. Second, this 60% off sale is being implemented pretty much entirely to help us to cover our moving costs. Please do not expect any future sales of this magnitude, as we cannot possibly justify giving away comics at these prices except in response to exceptional circumstances. In all honesty, our primary goal once we've finished moving will be to steadily build our online comics selection, not to decimate it any further with crazy sales. 'Nuff said.

Happy collecting!
