Howdy!
While I am not leaving Denver for the East Coast for another three days, I am already starting to get those little tingles of excitement that precede all of my major comics buying trips. It has been eight months since I have been able to see my friends in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Maryland, and I just cannot wait to get back out on the road. My first major stop will be at
John Paul's Sunday-only show
in Secaucus, NJ. Please come by and visit with me there, if you can. The show runs from 10am - 4pm John Paul's shows are always fun, friendly, and great places to buy old comics at bargain prices.
Aside from simply wanting to be able to visit with my friends in the comics community, it also is gratifying to know that they have been saving up vast numbers of great older comics to offer me. I already have one deal being delivered to me that contains approximately 30,000 nice back issues. These comics originated from several large private collections, including several thousand high grade 1980's issues. It is precisely those kinds of large and diverse collections that make the me happiest, as I am well aware that by purchasing them that we will be able to offer you even better deals on our website. As much as I enjoy the traveling, the real goal of my going out on the road is to find great comics for you, and this trip is already shaping up to be my best comics buying trip, ever!

Speaking of great comics, the nearly complete Marvel Comics collection that I purchased in Indiana last Tuesday arrived in Denver on Friday, right on schedule. Will Moulton and Pam are grading key issues from that collection for you right now, with a special effort being put into getting over 1,000 different issues of
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1-up,
AVENGERS #1-up,
CAPTAIN AMERICA #100-up,
DAREDEVIL #1-up, and various
DEADPOOL
issues into our
New-In-Stock and
Premium New-In Stock
listings for you. Those titles will be finished being graded by the end of today, at which time we will then begin on
FANTASTIC FOUR #1-up,
HULK #102-up, and
IRON MAN #1-up.
You really should keep an sharp eye on our
New-In-Stock
links every day this week (updates are usually posted daily at about 11 AM), because we are going to have some exceptionally rare back issues to offer you.
In other news,
our SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1 variant edition
is continuing to sell very well. That having been said, I think that I am going to be OK leaving our present $19.95 asking price on the regular edition the same for the rest of this week. Once we have sold 80% of the entire print run, however, I am going to bump our price on the last few copies to $24.95. That may be as soon as Friday... In the meantime, the
signed and numbered edition of our SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1 variant
(200 copies, signed by J. Scott Campbell) sold far more copies over this past weekend than we had projected, so we will bump up the price on that edition by a little tomorrow morning. If they keep selling at this rate, we will be sold out of 80% of the signed and numbered copies of our variant edition in just a couple of weeks.

The really good news for those of you who collect variant editions is that, thanks entirely to Will Moulton's diligence, we were finally able to obtain a small quantity of the scarce
BLANK COVER and
YOUNG BABY
limited edition variants to SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1. So you know, Will searched for these two scarce variants specifically so that we could offer them to you entirely for free! You can earn either one of these cool variants as a free bonus for simply placing any $50 order with us, or both of them for placing any minimum $75 order. Just place your order with us as per usual, and then ask for your free SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1 variants in the "notes" section of our online order form. Because our supplies are very limited, this free variants offer is for this week only, and will expire on Friday, at noon.

I do not like going on endlessly about variant editions, but I do have to mention a couple of bits of information about our upcoming
WOLVERINE #1
(with a cover by Humberto Ramos) and
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1
(cover artist yet to be announced). First, Greg and Mario in our new comics subscription department were absolutely deluged with calls and e-mails over this past weekend from fans wanting to pre-order those two comics at the $6 advance purchase. As a direct result, we have had to institute a limit of 20 copies per issue, per fan. One especially eager fan called Greg this morning and wanted to pre-order 100 copies of each, and we actually had to ask him to reduce his order to only 20 of each, out of a genuine fear of our running out of copies.
While turning down large pre-orders is something that I never thought that we would need to do, under our budgeting plan we have only 40% of each print run of our variants allocated for pre-order sales. It now appears that we are going to hit that percentage number well before either of these two upcoming variant editions even releases. Simply put, I want as many individual readers of this newsletter as possible to be able to obtain copies from us at a bargain price, while still allowing some folks buy a few extra copies. Suffice it to say, this is a difficult balance to maintain. If you would like to order either of those two variants from us at the $6 advance price, I highly encourage you to call Greg and Mario in our subscription department at 303-455-2659 (weekdays 9-5) right away, or write to them at
nice@milehighcomics.com.
Once we pre-sell our entire 40% allocation, no more advance orders for WOLVERINE #1 or GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1 will be accepted.
I will close today's newsletter by mentioning that I have extended our 30% off HOLIDAY codeword for you on all eight million of
our back issue comics
and 250,000+
back list trade paperbacks,
graphic novels, and
comics hardback books.
Simply put, I am using the revenues that we receive from your HOLIDAY codeword purchases to help fund our purchases of even more great back issue comics collections to offer you. Please do be aware, however, that the 30% off HOLIDAY codeword does not apply to new comics or new books, non-comics items, and oversize items listed on our website. That having been said, our 30% off HOLIDAY codeword discount DOES apply to almost all of the comics listed in today's
New-In-Stock and
Premium New-In-Stock
listing, including darn near all of the great comics that I just brought back from Texas and Indiana. Please do enjoy these cool 30% off savings on almost all of our comics and books without sincere thanks for your continuing support.
Happy Collecting!

P.S. I forgot to mention that Will was able to place the last reorder with Marvel for the
regular edition of SAVAGE WOLVERINE #1
before they completely sold out. We have those in stock for you right now at only $1 over cover price. We also just received an extremely small number of newsstand variants on some new and/or recent Marvel and DC releases, including
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700,
SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #1,
BATMAN #15,
and several more listed below. These newsstand editions are relatively common in some parts of the country, but in most of the western states they are quite scarce. We estimate that newsstand editions constitute about 2% of the total print runs on most comics being produced today, so they are essentially 1:50 variants. They do look the same but if your look carefully in the UPC Code you will notice that it states Newsstand (or nothing at all) instead or Direct Market and in some cases the cover price is different.
