SUPERMAN (1986) (#0-226, #650-714) (DC) #41 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Superman (1986) #41
"The Nature of the Beast" is written and drawn by Jerry Ordway with inks by Dennis Janke. Guest-starring Lobo. Superman has always been a product of two cultures: Earth and Krypton. His adopted planet knows him as a compassionate hero, defending the weak and using his incredible powers to better the lives of all he meets. But other than his otherworldly abilities, how does his Kryptonian heritage manifest itself? Thanks to the mysterious Eradicator, a relic of that long-dead planet, Superman begins transforming into an aspect of Krypton at direct odds with his human upbringing. Slowly but surely, he's becoming a cold, alien visitor with little or no interest in the feelings or pain of mortals.

Meanwhile, in the outer reaches of space the defeated gladiator Draaga enlists a Ralph Kramden-like cab driver to taxi him to Earth so he can regain his honor by defeating Superman. But before Draaga can get his re-match, a very drunk and dangerous Lobo races to beat him to the punch with the aid of hirsute teleporter and Superman's "pal" Bibbo. And while this comedy of errors unfolds, Jimmy Olsen finds Clark Kent uncharacteristically of little help in tracking down his biological father; a man who once worked as security for Project Cadmus. On his own, Jimmy gets as far as the Wild Area around the Project but quickly finds he needs the help of the Guardian, the amazing clone of the World War II hero, just the first few minutes of his quest.
