Plot Synopsis: Secret Avengers (2010) #5
"Secret Histories Epilogue: The Secret Life of Max Fury" is written by Ed Brubaker and drawn by David Aja, Michael Lark and Stefano Gaudiano. While Steve Rogers and his team were busy on the surface of Mars ensuring Richard (Nova) Rider didn't usher in a new age of demonic domination over our universe, Sharon Carter was being attacked by members of the Shadow Council, a subversive group that apparently includes none other than Nick Fury himself. However, as is often the case in the Marvel Universe, things are not quite what they seem to be at first.

When Rogers confronts his old friend, Fury explains that the man Sharon saw was a Life Model Decoy, convinced by Nick's brother Jake using the power of the Zodiac Key to fully believe he was Nick Fury himself. For months, this "Nick Fury" waged a one-man war against S.H.I.E.L.D.'s enemies including Hydra and A.I.M., before the real Fury caught up with him. The shock of learning he wasn't who he thought he was drove the duplicate nearly insane. But after adopting the name Max and escaping, the second Fury sought out a new group to belong to: the mysterious Shadow Council! Also, don't miss a sneak preview of Chaos War!
