JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY (1972) #12 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Journey into Mystery #12
Four horrific fables of fear and terror dredged up from the vaults of Marvel's frightful '50s. First off, a writer suffering from a mental block finds he can't go on writing the ghost stories that have made him a small fortune up to this date. His conniving wife conceives of a way to cash in on her husband's weak heart and his new insurance policy all at once by arranging for a "quiet" weekend in a house supposedly cursed by a vampire. It's just the thing for your writer's block, she tells her man. But when she tries to frighten him with a nocturnal visit while in ghoulish garb, she finds the tables fiendishly turned in "Kiss of Death!" Then, in a tale illustrated by Steve Ditko, a young boy finds a book for summoning a wish-granting djinni. But when he seeks a remedy for his persecution complex, he finds having your wish is not always enjoying it!

Thirdly, an electronic brain secreted away by the U.S. government can predict the future. However, discerning tomorrow's weather is about as imaginative as the pencil-pushers in Washington can get. But the machine's inventor, Mr. Jessup, worries about greater things like when death will come for himself and his beloved wife. That's "The Question" and the answer is a bone-chiller! Finally, in "Hide and Shriek" party gags get out of hand when bored playboy George Karus is visited by the ghost of a vengeful Voodoo priest who plays the cruelest trick of all.
