GREEN LANTERN (1960) (#1-224) (DC) #111 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Green Lantern (1960) #111
Featuring the Green Arrow and guest-starring the Golden Age Green Lantern. "Dark Things Cannot Stand the Light!" is written by Denny O'Neil and drawn by Alex Saviuk and inked by Vince Colletta. The emerald energy that powers the power rings of the Green Lanterns comes from the gigantic great lantern battery of the planet Oa. It is an object of super-science with the fundamental laws of physics at its core. However, the emerald energy that energizes the ring possessed by Earth-2's Green Lantern is mystical, a part of the supernatural realm.

After Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen rescue a gypsy fortune-teller from a couple of muggers, GL is shocked to find one of the crooks has been turned to stone. Some combination of his ring's power and the gypsy's magic points to something fundamentally wrong with the source of Green Lantern's power. A visit to Oa and the Guardians of the Universe confirms it. A strange cosmic entity has stolen the Star Heart, the place within the Sun where the Guardians stored the mystical energy of the universe. It's time to call in magical help; Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern!
